Winter is coming...
« on: June 22, 2013, 06:12:34 am »

                Greetings,

now i started a project, that was always my dream to do it: I will create an Neverwinter Nights Module set in the world of "Game of Thrones". I will do it as a big project an searching for followers and specially for artists! This job is not done with creating a module; more I will like to make a community where more people can do modules, people who like "A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones)"! But in favor of that  we need to do a lot of thinks: Custom Content; that the land of westeros bring us a great atmosperic feeling!

http://wic.incursio.net you're welcome! '<img'>

game of thrones is fun stuff, but its not innovative from a fantasy perspective. the standard cc will work just fine.

I made some shields for another NWN project based on ASOIAF. You might be able to use 'em.

Great thanks! '<img'> Sure Neverwinter Nights give a lot of stuff that I can use, but I want to make some of content (best example six shilds) are great for a real felling of it. You know? See banners and see important placeables like the throne. '<img'>
As base I want to use project Q because it gives a lot of neutral stuff with a real great standard of quality! '<img'>

and six: I LOVE your stuff! '<img'> I hope sometime I able to create content near on this quality like u do! '<img'>

maybe you just say what stuff you think is "important" to make game of thrones module so someone here can think about if he/ she is able to contribute something. If you mean a tileset as an example we have enough winter stuff... you just need to examine content on vault.

For placeables best way is to retexture from "neutral" to "snowy" theme.

So my advice is to ask for a "retexture" guy who has enough time and is not easily bored by just painting snow on lots of textures and fix bad texture mapping afterwards on almost every mesh he works on;) Because i bet thats exactly the work he has to do.

I hope i dont sound unfriendly just my 2c. And realistically it´s always good to show of some stuff you have worked on already so we know you have serious intentions. Working on a big project for nwn is eating time;)

First I have a look on "The North" like the wall and so one. '<img'> The Throne don't in the north so I have a look on it later. '<img'>
I think about the wall, how can it be done with NWN... and I will take the Castle (exterior) Tileset (there is one snowd theme allready) and insert the wall into it. Want to use both Tilesets (snowed and the standard) for the north because I think Winterfell isn't everytime frozen (eg movie) but the wall will allready be in snowed theme. Maybe I can use the cliff model of the forest for the wall and retexture it.

So my first plans to do:
-The Wall (insert into Tileset - TNO Winter textures)
-- the possibility Castle for the Wall (eg the lift and the gate)
-White Harbor (retexture TNO with white stones)
-- ...
-Take six Forest Tileset(wildwoods) for forest.
--Great, nothing to modify I think!
-Placeables
--Banners for the houses
-Equipment
--Shilds for the houses
--Armor for the houses (really not all, Family Stark don't have the coat of arms on their uniforms)
--Maybe some speciall weapons of 'A Song of Ice and Fire'
-Monsters/NSC
--The Others (White Walkers) ; maybe only a little bit modify some standard heads (these of HOTU really look near on it)!
But...
Some nicer looking weapons will  be great too:

You should take a look at some of the Winter is Coming and GoT content released for Skyrim. You can check the armor mods in that famous site which has lots of them. I based some of my custom item blueprints of clothing and armor off of those, and thanks to the magic of NWN custom content, I think they look quite close to both, the Skyrim inspiration, and the original GoT inspiration.

'<img'> The difficult 4 me is, that i'm not pretty good in modelling; I'm on to invest time in it, but the ability is missing. With textures I can work. Yesterday I try to model a banner with blender... I give that up. But the textures are ready:

This may speed up your building: An Echo of Kings (Night's Watch Campaign Base Module)

You may also check out this PW (contact authors maybe): Song of Ice and Fire - Westeros

Good luck!

I'm thinking this moment about two other things:
-Mod/Module (why I'm writting this 5 times wrong oO) is correct but,I wanna make something big, not a PW (but thats in my mind too) more a playable world (sounds very very big, I know that). The custom content is an minor-major important point of it. Research is very important too and for now its in a very early beginning time.
-I wanna change the classes/races part of the standard Neverwinter Nights Game. I like them but in Westeros are not much magicans or priests with a pool of feats and magic like in the good old D&D. Thiefs, Fighters, Wizards, Clerics... classes are really possible for A Song of Ice and Fire but with other abilites. The levels should be not soo important. I don't wanna have a fighter level 14 who kills 100 level 1 fighter, because no human is able to hit him.. '<img'>
What do you think about that?

I've decided to make a own world not set in the World of A Song of Ice and Fire. But this will be a world "like" that. The main object of the world will be a wall like that in the real world "Hadrians Wall" so it will defend the known world of the unknown world like that in GOT but it will not be build with ice it will build with stones. '<img'>
I will take
-project q haks (q team)
-wildlands (six) I will try to modificate if i get permission to do, because I need the wall and the city need an majesty tower, so I will try to convert it of the TNO set. Also I will do some additions, if I'm able to do.
-wildwoods (six)
-other six tilesets because I like the style.

Edit: But I will make Game of Thrones Custom Content Package if I'm ready on it, but no module! '<img'>
