               Did someone say snails?  Yum!  I'm not certain I'll get that big ol' one on the platter though.

               So...yeah.  I've now stumbled across an issue I've never before encountered when making a new model for NWN.

My flail snail (and the rainbow snail) shows up perfectly in the toolset...but not in the game. ':mellow:'

I can plop down one of these critters (or multiple), and they show up just fine in the toolset in my test module (where I took my latest screenshots, showing idle animation and everything).  I save, launch my test module as either a player or a DM, and the creatures just aren't there. No tab highlight, no attacks on me when they're set to hostile, no creatures in the area as far as the DM client is concerned, nothing spawning from DM creature palette.  Nothing.  Nada.

I've checked the model for parts are rendered or not, tried turning off all shadows, tried an animation-free version, tried setting to non-hostile factions, removed and re-added my test hak, and made multiple adjustments to the lines in appearance.2da.  I'm out of ideas.  Fat lot of good a great model does if a builder places it into a module and it just ceases to exist when the game runs.

Anyone else ever seen or heard of this happening before?  And if so, found a way to fix it?

               OK let's try the potentially embarrassing first. When you try to test are you going to the module via f9 or loading the module from nwn directly (ie starting the game yourself off the desktop/start menu). If the latter, try f9. If that doesn't work... You have checked your game settings haven't you? Other than that I'll leave to the real experts

               <offering vague...>

I did have that happen before, though I don't remember which creature.
I vaguely remember it having something to do with textures. They were the wrong dimensions or I tried something tricky with txi...

Come to think of it, my gynoculus had this peekaboo problem, too... But here was a problem with more than 4 bones on a few vertices. Have you looked at the skin weights in the weight table?
Try making a static placeable without the skin modifier and see if that renders. If it does, you're looking at too many bones or too many bones per vertice.

               Henesua has suggested to me, That Volo is not old school. Well I have considered him suitable for old school, because all of his guides were made for the 2nd edition.
So let me know if you think that he is suitable for this challenge or not. If he would be not, I'll include him in any other place....

               I definitely consider Volo to be old school at 2ed and TSR, since we are currently on 4e (or is it 4.5 now, can't keep up ('^_^')) and WotC in pnp. In fact I'd consider anything with TSR on the cover to be old school. Also I love that model.

               I was just being silly because FR was not part of the original D&D stuff. Sheesh. '<img'> I certainly did not mean to dissuade you from including Volo in this challenge.

               Well some people consider only the original 3 booklet white box D&D to be "Old School" whereas over on dragonsfoot.org they have a place for 2nd Edition AD&D. In my opinion, 2nd edition is closer to the Greyhawk booklet (1st OD&D supplement) than it is to 3rd edition and therefore deserves to be called "Old School."

Disclosure: While I have played OD&D, AD&D, AD&D 2nd edition, and 3rd edition -- my favorite version is AD&D 2nd edition.

Edit: After looking at AD's post, I noticed that AD&D 2nd edition is included in the challenge.  ':pinched:'

               <clarifying...>

@ AD: a couple corrections for the first page list... Sorry for the confusion.

The Bomb Beast is a collaboration with Tarot Redhand.
The Runequest Dragon Snail by Cestus Dei will be done, but not this month :-/

My life over-floweth :-)

               Well, like 2nd edition is included in the challenge, I Think that volo should be here...

Finally I have to remove the few skin parts that I had used; Because after testing, that don't look well with some animations; And I don't have enought knowledge and experience with skins to fix that. I hope that won't be too much disapointed....

               I like Volo - wonder how he'd look with a rainbow beard to go along with them rainbow snails - but his boots texture could use some love. They remind me of Pinocchio's!

FP!
