New Building Placeable Imports
« Reply #90 on: April 28, 2013, 09:13:01 am »

Same can be said for my house, I suspect...

Though admittedly, it IS full of Demons, Aliens, Daleks, etc, etc... probably doesn't help.

Setup cleanmodels and ran all the new meshes through it. Going back and adding shadows to each per Rolo. Each will have a shadow and a usenode in case its wanted. No damage, ground or impact. The pwks will all be 3D instead of a plane.

Screenshot of Middle Eastern and Western Europe houses with shadows. The European house would probably work well as an inn.

Nice little houses - by no means as impressive as huge forts and temples and things, but oh-so-very useful when nailing villages together. The NWN2 House Placeables were a useful addition, but the assorted different cultures available with these add a greater diversity.
For instance, I have a Module with an adobe village which has nothing but the adobe buildings in BioWare's Desert Tileset (which I turned into Placeables to allow for a few different angles) but it's still none too interesting.
Shabby Hyena fixes beady gaze upon American Adobe House with predatory intensity...

Additional thanks for this continuing and most interesting project.

Did you remove a ladder from that American building? Because there's still a shadow of a ladder on that wall, but no ladder to cast the shadow.

Had to remove 2 ladders, one from the front and one from the back. They were fairly simple rectangles using transparency between the rungs on the texture. Since I didn't know how to set up transparency/ alpha, the ladder had big black squares on it after import. The shadows are actually part of the texture itself.

If someone good with textures is out there, I can send the tga over so they can replace the shadow with normal wall, otherwise I thought there's enough ladder placeables to choose from to add those next to the building in game.

First, as you say, we can easily place Placeable Ladders against the house in the appropriate place if the shadow offends us.

Second, we could always assume some dirty, grubby individual used a humongously filthy, nasty, scum-encrusted ladder which left a disgusting stain...

Third: - Randomdays, if you wish, place the texture somewhere I can get at it (a project page or something), or e-mail it or whatever, and I'll happily exterminate every last trace of the grotty shadow so's nobody will ever know it was there... well, except for the picture above showing them it was.

               <making a point...>

I'll be posting the buildings to Empire Buildings as I complete them.

I'm moving a lot slower than Random, so bear with me (or take over ;-). This could be due to all the other things I'm doing, but it's probably just because I'm an old forgetful wizard :-)

So here's the first; e3_pyramid and mini (10% scale):

Adobe House texture hit with bricks by Shabby Hyena weirdo and now completely free of all insidious traces of depraved, evil ladders.
Textures for both versions of the Temple10 church also hit with outrageously huge bricks and now have proper railings instead of dirty great black blobs.

Trust me - I know what I'm doing.

Thanks for the help with that. I'm going to finish up converting the set I'm working on and post instead of making it bigger. Since I've had a few requests, the next one will be rocks, trees, coral and the mines and ore sites. Hopefully these will go quick since they'll be smaller, but I'll also add the destruct nodes and such that I didn't on the bigger items. Haven't done that yet but hopefully it'll go smooth.

I'm in the midst of a hak update for my PW, so I may just be importing these when you're done with the pack. '<img'>
