New Building Placeable Imports
« Reply #150 on: February 06, 2014, 07:55:54 pm »

I had to take heed of my own advice and am continuing to tool up for these new assets
There has been some progress...
I have surveyed some of the resources available and there is quite a lot to do.

To not have to re-invent all the animations I felt is very important. (But we have only 17 bones!) Through proper naming conventions we should be able to invigorate Nwn with many new face lifts quite quickly

Draygoth28> I had reached out to you but you have not responded yet...
Your skill set would be of great use in this endeavour.

Many of these files may come with sounds "bites" too. Most are totally applicable to our game
Once the workflow is figured out there should be "great strides" of progress

No worries...Just wanted you to know that I had thought specifically of you and a few others..
It is a community... 'Posted
With that in mind, in order to expedite development, I wanted to "open this up" to the Nwn community at large.
There is an enormous amount of excellent low-poly mesh out there. Keep in mind that our game is 12 years old. There is also a large amount of editing to be done.
I have uploaded, to the vault, the required i/o plugins to help alleviate the strain of waiting.  <for the killmonger 'Posted>
I anticipate some tremendous improvements in the look of our game.

<edit>
.... 2 hours later....
Drop yer linen and start grinning

I am happy to report "Progress"
It is possible to easily capture the kf motion files in max
My first test critter is now alive with graceful motions.
Now the hard part....

I sent a pack of various animals in nif format from different games with their kf animation files for KM to experiment with, along with some sound files that match. Anyone else who would like them to tryout, let me know and I'll forward them your way.

Dragoth, got a friend request from you that was accepted. Haven't seen anything else yet but when I do I'll send it your way.

Draygoth, sent you copies of the files sent to Killmonger. I'm also gathering together a set of different war elephants from Civ 4 from different Civs. Hopefully you'll find one you like and can adjust to work in NWN.

Zwerkules, Killmonger says you're looking for some cows.

Below is a pic of the 3 I have available at the moment, plus some more creatures that could be converted. I would prefer sending these out in themed packs as mentioned before, to keep things organized, but if all you want to do is the cow, I'll send them your way with thanks for the support.

Top row is a Brahma Bull from EE3 and 2 Cows from EE2. These have kf animations. KM has been able to animate a EE3 caribou in Max which looks promising.

Second row is a gorilla, raccon and sabretooth from WP2. These have kf animations and sound packs. WP2 has not been tested yet for animation.

Also, this a link to a bunch of cows from Google's 3D warehouse for sketchup. I can grab these and send as obj files with mtl and textures, though these are sometimes done in a strange way using material types instead of textures.

They look good Dragoth...they look like they're animated and moving. Are the camels mountable yet?

It looks like you got the WP2 animals working - are they on their kfs or standard NWN animations?

Last, what would you like sent your way? One of the themed packs mentioned before? Any luck with the war elephants?

I could only use the Obj. files. They are animated in game and use the standard NWN animations. I'm not that good with animations. I will make mounts out of the same models so they match up. So far only the wolf has both versions done. If you have any other animals I would like to take a crack at them. Unfortunately I only have the scripts to import 3ds, mdx, and Obj.
