@Nissa_Red -[/b] Thank you! Yeah, I consciously toned it down and I think it came out much better for doing so. If you have other depictions which you think work well, feel free to share them here or by PM. No idea whether I could do (whatever) or not, but I'd love to hear them.
I'm not very good at imaging completely "outland'ish" or "god-like" creatures, just so you know, but I have a fairly good sense of what would scare/disgust me in a creature, so here come a couple of suggestions for your model :
- without going full crazy on making it a phenotype (I don't think it's the purpose of such a creature), I'd see being able to apply a PLT texture to the skin parts of the "disfavored" as an improvement. That would be an easy way to share Lolth's wicked sense of "justice" equally among the drows and their human/elves "slaves". I don't have access to the model so maybe you've already thought of that, or maybe it's just not possible (too many parts already) ?
- next, I think the model is "gore'ish" enough as it is. I am no big fan of blood/mutilation, and the more it's suggested or implied, the better I usually like it (for example, Estelindis' wounded bodyparts are awesome, I thought). What I mean is that you've found a good compromise on your model : it's not too much, just enough of it. However, if you have the time and inclination to further improve it with some custom animations, having the hapless "disfavored" (or what remains of it anyway) slightly wriggle while the spider is in a resting position would really make it an utter vision of horror to me, goosebumbs and shrieks of desperation included ^.^
I'll try to come up with more, but honestly, it already looks very good (in a scary kind of way) to me as it is.
Thank you to everyone here for sharing, and listening to feedback. As usual, please feel free to discard/ignore anything that (just) doesn't seem reasonable in my ramblings.
