Custom Kama
« on: June 06, 2012, 09:52:37 pm »

Does anyone know of a NwN 1 mod that has a custom made Kama? The strongest kama I can find is the Imaskari +8, (Base Damage 1d6, Acid Damage 1d6, Enhancement +8, Discipline Skill +5) and while I guess it's strong enough, I was hoping I might find something better.

I'm asking because I was hoping to make a Kama Weapon Master.

               <very carefully getting advice...>

There are a few options.

The one we like best, of course, is to load your favorite module into the toolset and customize your own Whiteflash Kama of Awesomeness :-) While that may sound daunting, it's actually quite fun :-)

Another alternative is to download one of the "Character Customizer" mods from the Vault like the Campaign Stockpiles mod by Tristan (It has every official item available for sale).

A third path might be to play through the HotU until you find the Smith Who Makes Awesome Goodies :-) Just bring lotsa gold ;-)

edit: What would you *wish* for your kama to be?

Kind of feels like cheating, but I'll think about it. It certainly sounds easier than making an entirely new mod.

I'll consider that one too, thanks.

That guy adds stuff to your base weapon, from what I understand? Definitely going to have to consider that one. Does that allow d20s or frost damage?

Dont think he goes to d20 but yes on frost damage as i recall...

There are mods were ppl have isolated the forge for builders and imporved upon it as well (ud have to search). The Demos for them could be used for PC weapon customiser tools as well. (Tho check torlaks mod first, he may have it there already.)

The fastest way would just to make a one room mod in the toolset, put a chest with your new custom kamas, as long as you make them plot items any level can use. Load, Equip and Save PC.  I also suggest the keen property as well, for more crits '<img'>

It's not Cheating, its Modding '<img'>

So, I played my Blackguard to that point to check it out. The good news is, Rizolvir is pretty cool. The bad news is, I'm not sure how my monk will fare having to cut his way through to that point with his stuff hidden by the drow.

Just take it one "boot-to-the-head" at a time '<img'>

Ti Kwan Leep/Boot To The Head - The Frantics...

Teacher: Approach, students. Close the circle at the feet of the master. You have come to me asking that I be your guide along the path of Ti-Kwan-Leep. But, be warned: To learn its ways, you must learn the ways of your own soul.

Let us meditate upon this wisdom now.

So: Aaaaaaooooommm......

Ed Gruberman: Uh, sir! Sir! (oo! oo!) Sir!

Teacher: Who disturbs our meditation, as a pebble disturbs the stillness of  the pond?

Ed Gruberman: Me! Ed Gruberman?

Teacher: E-Ed Gruberman?

Ed Gruberman: Yeah, uh, no disrespect or nothin', but, like, uh, how long is this gonna take?

Teacher: Ti Kwan Leep is not a path to a door, but a road leading forever towards the horizon.

Ed Gruberman: So like, what, an hour or so?

Teacher: No, no, we have not even begun upon the path. Ed Gruberman, you must learn patience.

Ed Gruberman: Yeah yeah yeah, patience. How long will that take?

Teacher: Time has no meaning. To a true student, a year is as a day.

Ed Gruberman: A YEAR??? I wanna beat people up right now! I got the pajamas! Hah woo yah ooomm!

Teacher: "Beat people up"...?

Ed Gruberman: Yeah! Just show me all those nifty moves so I can start trashing bozos!
That's all I came here for! YO ASTA STA STA!!! Pretty good, eh?

Teacher: The only use of Ti Kwan Leep is self-defense. Do you know who said that? Ki Lo Ni, the great teacher.

Ed Gruberman: Yeah? Well the best defense is a good offense, you know who said that? Mel, the cook on "Alice".

Teacher: No, um...Ti Kwan Leep is the wine of purity, not the vinegar of hostility. Meditate upon this truth with us. Aaaaoooommm...

Ed Gruberman: Listen, shrimp! All this **** talk is really starting to ****** me off. Now, are you gonna show me some fancy moves, or am I gonna start wapin' the walls with you?

Teacher: Ed Gruberman, you fail to grasp Ti Kwan Leep. Approach me that you might see.

Ed Gruberman: All right! Finally some action!

Teacher: Observe closely, class. Boot to the Head! (SH-ZOOMP!)

Ed Gruberman (drunkenly): Owww! You booted me in the head!

Teacher: You are lucky, Ed Gruberman. Few novices experience so much of Ti Kwan Leep so soon.

Ed Gruberman (quietly, to himself): Ow, oh, my head!

Teacher: Now we continue. Aaaaaoooommmm...

Ed Gruberman: Hey! Hey, I wasn't ready! Come and get me now shorty, huh? Come on, are ya chicken?

Teacher: Boot to the head! (SH-ZOOMP!)

Ed Gruberman (again, drunkenly): Oww! Okay, now I'm ready, okay, now, come on, try it now.

Teacher: Boot to the head! (SH-ZOOMP!)

Ed Gruberman: Mind if I just lie down here for a minute?

Teacher: Now class, we shall return to our...

Student 2: Master?

Teacher: It is wrong to tip the vessel of knowledge, student.

Student 2: Many apologies, master. But I feel Ed Gruberman is not wholly wrong.

Teacher: What do you mean?

Student 2: I want to boot some head, too.

Teacher: Have you learned nothing from the lesson of Ed Gruberman?

Student 2: Yes, master. I have learned two things. First, that anger is a weapon only to one's opponent.

Teacher: Very good.

Student 2: And secondly, get in the first shot. Boot to the head. (SH-ZOOMP!)

Teacher: You missed.

Student 2: Uh, yeah. Well...

Teacher: You too shall be honored to learn a lesson...

Student 2: You don't have to, you know. I-I gotta be going...

Teacher: Boot to the head! (SH-ZOOMP!)

Student 2 (agonizing pain): Oyyy oy oyyyy.... Oh....

Teacher: Can anyone tell us what lesson has been learned here?

Student 3: Uh, yes, master. Not a single one of us could defeat you.

Teacher: You gain wisdom, child.

Student 3: So we'll hafta gang up on ya! Get 'im guys!

(Teacher throws many 'Boot to the head!s' and 'SH-ZOOMP!s'. There are many people groaning in pain.)

Teacher: And now class, let us rejoin the mind to the body and gaze into the heart of the candle in meditation.

Unison: Aaaaaoooommm....

Teacher: Very good, class.

*** SONG BEGINS ***

Boot To The Head!!! Yi yi yai yi....
People talking in movie shows,
People smoking in bed!
People voting Republican,
Give them a boot to the head!

Boot to the Head! Nah, nah...
Boot to the Head! Nah, nah...
Boot to the Head! Nah, nah...
Boot to the Head! Nah nah nah...
Nah. Nah nah nah...

Mechanics who can't fix a car,
Politicians who can't think!
The salesman who won't leave me alone,
The waiter who forgot my drink!

(Refrain)

Boot to the head! Nah, nah..
Boot to the head! Nah, nah..
Boot to the head! Nah, nah..
BOOT TO THE HEAD!!

Kind of feels like cheating, but I'll think about it. It certainly sounds easier than making an entirely new mod.

Forgive the Yoda accent:
There no cheating is. There only Advanced Playing Technique is. :-)

I am one of those obnoxious GMs who prefer story and character development over Ravenloft style uber-gear.

None-the-less, the PHB and DMG both set out clear guidelines for limits on what gear is available and appropriate to your Weapon Master initiate. *You* determine his story and how he got there. So long as the gear is appropriate to both his level/class and the world you wish to play him in, *I* would feel absolutely no qualm at all about reaching my (lesser demi-)god-like hand in and putting those perfect weapons somewhere he can (with difficulty and luck) reach them. The game *should* revolve around the (anti-)hero and not the other way around. Make his destiny weapons and put them someplace... difficult. It's fun! =)

Of course, if the weapons you wish to create exceed the PHB guidelines, you are playing a completely different game and have reached the limits of *my* advice :-P

Well, I got my monk to Rizolvir. The result was rather underwhelming, what with my acid damage meaning Rizolvir wouldn't add the cold damage I wanted. Still, it's got more potential damage than my monk's 1d20 punch, more minimum damage than that too, can overcome more damage reduction, and it's keen with true seeing and regeneration.

I might still have to mod up a Whiteflash Kama of awesomeness...

Btw, does after 10 days count as necromancy?

               <pulling out his...>

Do you mean necroposting ;-)
Nope.
In fact, and I've run afoul of this myself, re-opening a post with pertinent or forgotten value does not, IMO qualify as true necroposting. These forums are difficult to search and I am constantly discovering gems when people "necropost" in some forgotten thread I wish I'd seen a year (or two) ago.

By all means mod up that Whiteflash special :-)

Even better, dip your toe into the whole custom content swimming pool. The water's fine (except for shinywater) and there's an ever-lasting game of water polo going on. Or perhaps Marco-polo. Or splash fights. Or... <ok. metaphor abuse, wizard. drop it>
Oh, go soak your hydrophobic head, bird.
