cave grotto wip
« on: June 04, 2012, 05:01:06 pm »

i started a while back on something like this and the basic tiles are almost complete:

Its a modifided version of sen´s caves. Not the big underdark one so the hak will not be to big. Suggestions and comments are welcome as always:)

I used "sen`s" caves as a starting point. He added lots of cool stuff like raise/lower for corridor and mine tunnels as well other basic terrains for cave creation. This way i just need to work on the tiles themself without any set and itp headache. But it will be a stand alone hak so nothing else needed as just this one cave expansion pak. Credits to you sen in advance:)

It will feature some shapes and textures from my spider tileset.

no ShadoOoW and not realy needed. I havent blocked the camera this time so you can freely adjust the camera as you wish. When I break up the wall/ceiling mesh my smoothing groups dont work anymore as supposed and it lowers the quality to much for me. But like i said, you can use the camera freely w/o any problem... i hope:D

I was hoping this would extend the underdark spider caves... but I understand the desire to freely model a tileset without worrying about compatibility.

Beautiful work!

Yeah sen. I thought about having the dragon domains implemented for acid and fire with a big group in the middle where they rest or a boss battle can happen. Right now i have the grotto, which is your lake/water. A deeper section will be implemented later for sure. The cave... the caves a bit modifided and retextured and then the large caves. Looks   similar to your gigantic caves in your underdark set. But I just lowered the floor to -6m and threw stalaks and rocks at their wall hehe. The whole mine section is also reworked. Looked to unnatural to me (the bio default).

even it is not finished... it will never be finished:D btw. i release what is present in there and just update the set piece by piece w/o changing base geometry/ walkmesh data.

can't wait to see the result!! i give you an idea, if you like it thats some crazy advanced stuff involving daynight animations: i tried something in my latte inouterior tileset, basically i had windowed skyboxes and light sources controlled by day/night animations (that need to be set on in toolset cuz default for interiors is off, if there is no edit of tilesets 2da stuff), so when you look out of the window, the sky changes from day to dusk to night to dawn and so on, same with lamps... they light at dusk and light out at dawn.

with your master skills you should be able to do something like that, maybe for cave entrance tiles and groups.

there is a lockwood painting i always found amazing and so inspiring, it really fits teh idea im trying to describe:
