CEP 2.4 - Invisible Models Issue?
« on: May 14, 2012, 05:39:59 pm »

Hi, I'm having a bit of trouble with the CEP. Some of the models aren't showing up at all in the toolset - they're on the drop-down list for appearances, but they literally don't show up. I'm pretty sure that they're all Daggerford models, and 90% of them are placeables. Has anyone else had this issue, and do you know of a fix? My CEP is set up just fine, with the proper haks and TLK table. Thanks in advance!
Edit: It seems like the CEP objects are refusing to load if there's any other placeable model-adding hak about them in the load order. Does anyone know of a workaround?

You need to merge the placeables.2da files for CEP and the other hak above it, then add your merged 2da file to a hak at the top of the list.

With haks, file names higher in the list "overwrite" files with the same names lower in the list.  Since your extra hak with placeables is higher than CEP's in the hak order, the game is completely ignoring the placeables.2da in the CEP hak.  The game engine doesn't merge 2das for us.                Ah, that sounds familiar. Are the CEP okay with us modifying their 2das and redistributing them?

As far as i know they havn't objected so far, its probably been done  at least several hunded (or thousands) of times on nwn vault alone, were its common paractice for developers to bundle modified CEP 2das supporting thier content with thier mod.

Some mods like d20 modern are built on top of CEP in fact. The same goes for PW worlds that have CEP as a base but have additional haks as well, as they will often need a server-specific top hak for 2das and such (mine does at least '<img'>).

To me it's a simple issue of compatability with (and making your content support users of) NWN's most popular  mod.

(In fact doing so just helps promote CEP more than anything else IMO.)

Just be sure to always include documention for any changes you make.
