Helvene's Marble Castle And Placeables
« on: April 22, 2012, 03:23:50 am »

I recently came across Helvene's "White Marble Castle"
which I think is looking very nice indeed! Love the textures there.
But I'm just wondering about the 2 placeables, the red carpet and the bench which is shown in the screenshots they provided.

For the red carpet, I see a zip file is provided with only models and textures.
Is there any reason why there was no 2da included also? I downloaded that file for the carpet recently, to include it with the marble castle, but I have absolutely no idea myself, of what to put in a 2da file. :-/
Why wasn't this included in the first place?

Does anyone out there know how to make this up in a 2da file please? (sounds like this will be placeables 2da)

Also, the old screenshots show a red bench.
Does anyone out there know what happened to that, or did it get lost somehow?
I'm sure I could find an alternative if this one isn't available.'B)'

One of the answers is in the comments.

>> in an attempt to recreate the picture you have with the runners leading to the platform, i was unable to find the carpet, the bench placeables, or even the bookstands.
Sure, as it's an example of an area, created with this tileset for a PW. What about a carpet - it's available for download in this entry, bookstands and the books themselves are the original NWN resources, and yes, I didn't include the benches.

If someone still needs them, I can upload the models and pwk.

So Helvene never uploaded the bench placeable.

Thanks for the helpful reply.
An evening of tiredness meant I must have missed that comment somehow.
But I have managed to find an alternative bench I like. So I guess no issue there anymore.

But there is still the issue of the carpet I'm interested in.

There are two carpets, but one file was corrupt. That carpet crashed the NWN explorer and would probably have crashed the game, too. I fixed it and put the two models, the texture and the placeables.2da into a small hak and also made an erf-file for the two carpet placeables.
The file is very small. I used 7z to compress it.
You can download the file here.

Thanks a lot for the help Zwerkules. '<img'>

I never knew there were 2 carpet placebles.
Shows how much I know about how to create a hak file.''

I thouhgt Helvene may have made something with a different texture from
the old screenshots on his vault page, but it looks exactly the same, and
looks very nice too. One straight and one curved..

I did notice another hak made by someone else with a few nice carpets, including a
nice red one with a nice pattern which I like too.
Marble 'N Cloth Placeables

I like the carpets and other placeables in that 1 too. But the one that Helvene made fits nicely and looks very nice too.

On another note, I had a quick look at some of your work from your signature link on here, and there are 2 I like in particular.

These 2 tilesets :

NWN 2 Houses Tileset

My favourite is actually the layout of the rural tileset with the long grass and the little footbridge.
I prefer long grass to very short. It's nice to see the way it's animated and moves about when you add some wind.
Very nice layout there. The houses all look very nice too. Great work. It's nothing I could ever understand.
Don't know how you made all that lovely work.
Very nice indeed.[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie]

Mines/Caverns Override With Lava & Pits

Again.... absolutely great work!'<img'>
All those screenshots tells me you must have taken some time to
put a lot of work into it all. My personal favourite is the lava pits.
It leads me to think of demons and dragons..... that kind of thing where
these creature types may reside. I imagine a dragon or 2 from the CEP in
there right now.

I'm really loving the included cavern ceiling too. Makes it a bit more realistic.

Again.... really great work. Love it!

And thanks again for the Helvene's carpet hak.'<img'>

Hey Zwerk how goes it? I knew the caves and mines overwrite was going to be popular.

Actually the first version of it took me three days to make (over the christmas holidays). It's all made from tiles that already existed.
It's funny how people always think that those kind of tilesets take a lot of work. They don't.
It's making something completely new that takes a lot longer.
The raised terrain in this tileset didn't exist before, but I made it from parts of the underdark tileset, so
it didn't take long to make either.
After that I added the gnome homes. That took longer, but I think there are terrain types in the Medieval City
tileset on which I spend more time than on this whole tileset.

I'm glad that you like those two tilesets, but I think that the two small tilesets I made for the Custom Content Challenge and the Medieval City tileset are a lot better.

Just to further derail the subject, are there any plans to put the gnome homes into a forest and/or wooded hak in the future?

I like to make race specific buildings, especially since there are so few of these available. For example, nearly all the elven buildings are either wooden huts in trees or retextured drow buildings.
Nobody made any new elven buildings yet.
All the race specific buildings I make are also for different kinds of tilesets. When I make those buildings, I have a place for them in mind. Like a forest for the elven buildings and hills for the halfling buildings (that's why I added them to the TNO tileset, but I'll also add more to the rural tileset I'll make from the rural tiles in the Medieval City tileset).
I picture the gnomes living in cities in caves and within mountains, but having a different architecture than the dwarfs.
I added the merfolk buildings to Lord of Worm's undersea tileset because I never planned on making an underwater tileset myself and they belong under the sea.

That means that I have made no plans to add the gnome homes to a forest tileset. I don't know when I will have the time to make the elven buildings and if I will make a forest tileset for them or add them to other existing forest tilesets.

If people want to use the gnome houses in a forest tileset, or the merfolk buildings in a desert, they have my permission to add them to other tilesets. I won't do that myself, because I've got my hands full with the medieval city and even if that is finished, I have a lot of other things I still want to make (which means that by the time I am making those there'll probably be nobody left who's going to use them).

It's amazing to me that this community is still going strong - 10 years after this game was released. I'm not sure I'd wager too many coins on that comment - well - OK - some of us may die off of old age I suppose '<img'>

This topic might be 2 years old, but has anyone found why the beds in the 1x1 and the 1x2 are not walkable?

Or maybe I'm missing something?

Would appreciate any help here.
