Oh, I'm not talking about the N/PC animation. That works well.':?'

I'm talking about unfolding the fan for slashr/l anims and folding it for slashs (stab) anims, folding it for pause, unfolding it for pause-bored, etc.

One of the really attractive things about the tessen is the motion and dance of it folding/unfolding and rotating. I want that. Made it with 9 blades that pivot about the base hinge (central blade is the weapon "top") so that it will not only animate in use, but be customizable later.

But thanks! '<img'>

I like this idea.  What I'd do is extract one of the models that includes the animations, such as heavy flail top part 1 color 1, which is the supermodel used for all the flails and morning stars (off the top of my head, I think it's wbflh_t_011.mdl).  This should give you the framework for the animations needed.  Not the motions themselves (which you obviously don't want), but which animations are used by a weapon and for how many/which frames.

If this works out, I might have to borrow your finished animations for the war fans I added to my PW a while ago (which are just static kama variants).

                <sipping a particularly fine brandy...>

My first response was, honestly, "Uggh". But, except for a couple caveats, I'm for it.

First, The CCC has the requirement that everything must work in game without additional haks. This means you'd have to clear the use of any CEP material with whoever is running it (edit: and extract it). That part's on you and I don't know why there would be any problem, but it's something to keep in mind.

Second, CCC content is supposed to be original. I truly *encourage* derivative work such as re-skinning or modifying existing, previously released stuff. But it's supposed to be something new. If you were going to do that, there'd be no doubt in my mind at all that it was cool :-)

But then, if you were going to do that you wouldn't be asking such a thorny question :-P

So now let me add a caveat to my caveat - as I said to Zwerk and as I've said to others, The CCC is a fantastic *volunteer* program and flexibility is key. Not only is it terribly easy to drive people away, but it's horribly easy to mute the "Fun" button :-(

I think *minor* use of previously released content, so long as credit is given and permission asked, should not only be permitted, but encouraged. It gives secondary exposure to material that we obviously (if we want to use it again) like and it doesn't hurt the spirit of the CCC much. It might even invigorate the "market", so to speak.

That said, we come to my "Uggh". I was bit once (pretty hard) by some really nice CEP content. The last thing I want is a "cease and desist" order from Blizzard Ent. Uggh.

*phew!* Got it all out :-) Those are my *opinions* and certainly not in anyway a "ruling" or anything. I'll be damned before I'll become a martinet :-P

So now I can sit back, relax and watch the flames :-)

<...and relaxing into his favorite armchair>

Guess I'll just have to make a couple new things to go in the area then. '<img'>

               <grinning...>

Well, that is certainly the *ideal* solution =)

But the question is pertinent and should be hashed out for future reference, also. I'm very interested in what our other regulars have to say.

               *Eyes Rolo and thinks he has the makings of a politician.*  What an answer!  Far more correct than my initial reaction of ‘OH HEL…HECK NO’.  In caps.  With feeling.  *sassy grin*

You pose a seriously sticky and complicated question.  My two cents worth of an answer (and wow am I glad Rolo has the lead now!):

If you know where the CEP content that you like came from, as in who posted it to the Vault originally, trace it back, and check their EULA (or if they are still active, ask ‘em).  If allowed, pull the bits you like, change ‘em somehow.  Perhaps a texture modification?  That would stay within the loose rules/intent of the challenges.

Coulisfu has a nice collection of placeables in his tileset.

               The original thought wasn't about re-releasing stuff that's in the CEP, but using it in a prefab area.  Basically a separate demo module for the area with CEP attached.

I can readily see the requirement to do without though, as stuff from the CCC should be as easy for builders to adapt use on it's own as possible.  Who knows, there might be builders out there that just add the latest CCC hak to the top of their module's hak list every month. '<img'>

I'm sure it won't take me long to whip up a few oriental-looking flags, a combat dummy or two, and maybe another prop or two.  And there's that extra day this month to work. '<img'>

Nice! Really getting an arabian feel from that, especially the detail above the gate and the shape of the windows.

               In need of some atmosphere placeables for a prefab monk area, so I made them.  No progress yet on the area itself, but the placeables are 99% done (just need to make portraits for them).

Here's a preview with bioware social sized images (max of 540 pixels in either direction...yuck).

               Just curious what people want from my Oni

I've almost recreated the guy better than my original one, and he's a nice tubby Ogre based monster. However, I'm considering hooking him up to the a_ba base animations so he can use all sorts of weapons, rather than just the usual ones the Ogres use

Any opinion if I should keep the monstrous ogre stance, or go for full animations?

EDIT: Also, Amethyst has some nice stuff you should look at on the last page while I'm not being a first page sniper '<img'>

 It's been so long since I last spoke Chinese that I can't read any of the flags except for those with the elements on them and those were pretty obvious because of the colour.
Do you know what the other flags say?

               <completely distracted...>

@ TAD: Nice! Your wing chun dummies are very authentic and your flags should really provide atmosphere.

IMO, Oni are more intelligent and sophisticated than ogres, they should reflect that in their stance. If you can get the a_ba super looking good, that would be better. Just my thoughts, though. I'll like whatever you do =)

@ Pen: I like the new red textures for the tessen :-) Keep going!

               Really excited to see all the final submissions here... and very impressed with the animations on the fans so far.

So we're getting this too right?  :innocent:

There are ten in all: Earth, Fire, Water, Wind, Courage, Health, Knowledge, Serenity, Strength, and Wisdom.

I could have gone for more, but I figured ten would offer enough variety for now.

Nah.  Those aren't included this month.  They're previously existing content (just not publicly released).  Although I'll likely end up remaking them from scratch to make them use animations similar to those in the upcoming tessen fans.
