Project Reforged: Replacement of ALL Default Weapon Models
« Reply #120 on: February 18, 2013, 06:06:11 am »

Well, for me, dumbing this down to the most basic...

- I dl'd your .rar version
- I extracted your .rar version to my override folder (NWN not running at the time)
- opened both a custom (haks added) and blank (vanilla; no haks) module
- placed a greataxe (Culling) down in the toolset
- both toolset and "live" test were shiny silver in both cases, though the inventory icon was properly colorized

I'm now going to look at your other DL's (7z, zip) to see if there are different/additional files, and perhaps it is just the winrar version that is wonky for me.  '<img'>

Axes, eh.  So the "chopping weapons" one.

Just checked.  And wouldn't you know it, the .rar version I have on my computer is missing the textures.

I'll upload an updated one in the morning sometime.  Thanks for the heads up.

In the meantime, you can drop in the metal, wood, wrap, and gem textures from one of the other Reforged groups into your override...they use the same textures.

I updated the chopping weapons download with the missing texture files.  Thanks again for letting me know about this.

TAD, I remember reading somewhere (prob this thread somewhere) that you plan to revisit the reforged project and turn off all the shadows. I'm assuming you didn't do that in the 2 groups you updated this month ?

*You updated smashing with this update:
Update February 10, 2013: Added missing .dds files for hak version use.*

I quickly looked through all the reforged haks, none of them have dds. Did I mess up on which version I got ?

Haven't had time to do that yet.

I'll have to find a better way to do it than decompile > text editor to find/replace "Shadows 1" with "Shadows 0" (or whatever the exact text is) > recompile.

I did that already to all of the files, and only two showed up with that specific text (ignoring capitalization) in the ascii model file (a couple of heavy flail tops from the very first part).  Looks like most of the files don't include that text at all.

Not looking forward to it if it means manually going through all 2000ish models (5000ish if you count the extras I made for my PW) in gmax.  I've got other things a bit higher on my 5-6 year long to-do list.

OMB's Clean Models program (v3.2.2.1) has an option to set shadows within a model to all or none (or a default to leave them alone). One just has to copy/place all of the desired decoded files files into the input folder, click the option in the gui, and it will batch process everything in there to the output folder.

Unless I'm misunderstanding what is desired, it works well. I've had to do some corrections on a number of models this way both with shadows and ambient/diffuse. I just ran a test on one of your longswords to see if it would add the shadow line with the desired setting for a model that did not contain one initially and it did.

That's something that may be worth looking into.

Thanks, Malagant.  I'd downloaded that program many a moon ago, and forgot I had it.  I'll look into running the models through that and see if it can process all of them.

Edit: Ah, and the reason I forgot I had it is I had previously been unable to locate the .dll files needed to run it.  That's now been taken care of and I can start experimenting with the program.

This will probably look to you like a stupid question, but in all the years I've played NWN, I have never before used an override. Inside the first 7zip file, there is a folder named reforged01_override. To use it, do I put that folder into my override folder, or do I put the contents of the folder into my override folder?

Put the contents of the zipped folder into your override folder.

Game on !

               Hello TAD!

I seem to have a problem with bullets for sling that have electrical damage (vfx)
I have installed override version.

When I start slinging, this appears:

I have twice experienced game crashing when I slinged those bullets. I'm certain it's related to them.

What files are associated with arrows, bolts and bullets? What should I remove?

Crap.  I thought I removed that particular file from the download.  I'll upload an updated copy without that particular model.  The bullets don't like the new lightning for some reason.

That file should be wambu_fxelect.mdl

Ah, looks like I did remove it from the hak version, but forgot to from the override version.  Thanks for the heads up.
