Ninja Urchin!

                *growling in frustration*

Well.

Me Giant Venomous Sea Urchin is a tricky beastie indeed. I've been amessin' with this fer far too long now and must admit I be stumped.

There be something about this model that will load jest fine in the Toolset:

'Image

But wont load inta the game at all:

'Image

I thought first it was a matter o' too many links to the rootdummy (16 legs, ya see), so I linked 8 on each side to a dummy hip and linked them to the rootdummy.  Then I thought perhaps *8* is too many, too. So I reduced me legs to 4 to a side (messin' up me anims terrible). Still no joy.

I ken no other problem and need some mentorin'

I've popped the .hak file up on me project page an' would appreciate it if one o' you veteran's could take a look.

Need me a mug full.

You need to allow everyone to access the file on your Project page, I believe.
Do you have a texture on the model? Is it skinmesh? I seem to recall you need a texture on skinmesh for it to show up in game.

I had allowed registered users, I've expanded that to everyone.

I do nae use skinmesh, yet. It is a simple geometry with texture applied.

Any help is welcome and appreciated

When I copy the model name up to the appearance line for a bat, it shows.  I'm 100% sure it's not the model.  It's your 2DA line.  Something's not matching up there.  Whatever it is, it's causing NWN not to load the model at all.

Ahhh! Me thinks ya need to join the Amethyst Tapestry ta see the files...

Strange behavior, as it should be a setting in the project, IMO

               <just not seeing...>

O. M. G.

If PERCEPTIONDIST is less than 9, then the creature isn't loaded?! WTH?

What...
why...
how... <blood pressure, boss. calm down>
GRRRRRR!

Edit: There go all my plans to import Mr. Magoo! >:-/

Edit 2: Ahhh! Stupid pointers to pointers thing... a PERCEPTIONDIST of 6 is *not* a perception range of 6 meters... it is a ranged weapon range of 30m that does not apply to creatures... Awkward.

PERCEPTIONDIST is index into range.2da.
8 is short (10m) for creatures.
9 is medium (20m - default).
10 is long (35m, same as player).

In case you were wondering.

I program in C, you'd think I understand arrays of pointers :-P

Edit 3: Guess Mr. Magoo is still invited ;-)

<...the point>

Make a white one of those, slightly larger and you have superman's spacecraft.

Heh, I am sorry if that came across as negative. I meant that I can imagine a number of different uses for this model.

               <waves dismissively...>

Oh, don't take it personally. He's mad at me.

And, for him, scowls are actually his "trying-to-be-pleasant" face. He *is* a dwarf, you know :-)

Personally, I think the thing would look good all sparkly and gold at the top of a tree, but it's a little late <or *very* early>  for that. :-/

<...at the outraged dwarf>
