Existing tileset list?
« on: December 09, 2011, 06:15:27 pm »

               Greetings!

I'm back at doing custom stuff, and, thinking about tilesets, I was wondering if there was a complete list of existing tilesets done somewhere? Maybe with a little description even better *hint hint* ''

It's good to hear that you're back at doing custom stuff. Did you already think about what you'll make for the december CCC? '<img'>

               ty calvin =)

Your link's a good start, thank you. Well if someone with free time is looking for a way to help the community, that'be super to have a list/guide of tilesets, maybe arranged by categories (like for ex. Natural, Interiors, exteriors, etc...) as there are so many now, its super time consuming just to find 1 in particular...
I'm focused on models so I can't do it myself, but anyone could do that, little by little *throws an idea*
=)

Skunkeen put together a list a while back, there have been some great releases since, Six's Wildwoods springs to mind but it's an extensive list and a good starting point.  It appeared on a few forums at the time, here is a link to the one on the CEP forum.

Pretty decent list, but it is lacking a lot of sets (as was my list on the wiki).

Lots of stuff to add like:
Six's Wildwoods
Zwerkules medevial city
SS_cobblestone
NWNCQ?

I'm sure there are others, I don't have time to compile a list sorry Jez.

don't be! =)

I was just saying that in case some people want to help us all but don't know how or with what. Along the years, I've seen a lot of people without skills in scripting, modelling, building (like most players) saying they'd like to help but don't know how. Here, that's a way to help anyone can do. If theres 1 person a day listing 1 tileset + link + 1 sentence description/keywords to summarize the set (a 5 mn job), in 3 months max we would have a very handy guide to all tilesets.

Im pretty sure many sets have been forgotten or were released at a wrong time and didn't get the attention they deserve. So, that would serve authors as well. hmm I may try to organise that a bit later, let me think ^^

Or maybe i'm just completely wrong about the usefulness of such a guide?

No I think it would be useful.  I had updated the wiki some time ago to list the tileset abbreviations, since I was working on tileset hak merges.  I just didn't have need for all the tilesets.

i remember skunk made a very exhaustive list of almost all tilesets a couple of years ago at ctp forums... maybe you just need to update that stuff which is very well made (not sure where to find it now though)

It is the same list as appeared on the CEP forum, the link is in my previous post.

I don't know which scares me most: how much of whats on skunk's list (lots) is mine, or how much (zero) on the wiki is.

Awesome list, thank you. Excellent starting point as you said. This whole list should be duplicated here imho. Is Skunkeen still around?

               <pretending to be as grumpy...>

Well.

I went looking for a certain tileset I vaguely remembered... and Skunkeen's list is gone :-P

Luckily, he's given me the nod to recreate it, so I've started.

Help is always appreciated, but we really do need a good list (with screenies!) of tilesets available.

Edit: fixed link.

Rolo, your list seems to be missing PLUSH HYENA of DOOM's tilesets.
