I've gotten my foot models made with the attached snowshoes for a standard human male (pmh0_), and they work in-game as intended! My first ever body/armor part.
Here's the first preview screenshots. They do not change color with the armor colors, since they rely on the trick discovered by Old Time Radio for attaching a tga'd piece to a body part. Both the wood and webbing curve up slightly in the front. These do sit rather low, so ground that isn't really flat may clip through the webbing, but otherwise these look good in both the winter rural and icy wastes tiles.
Once I finish with the copy/scaling for the other races and genders (using NWN Armory for the first time), I plan on also making a misc. medium inventory item (icon and 3D model for when dropped) and one or two placeable versions of these for decorating areas.
For those still looking for ideas, here's a few off the top of my head:
- a fur-lined hood with scarf-covered face helm model
- thick leather mitten hands
- an igloo placeable
- a dog sled placeable
- a snow fort placeable
- child NPC models in winter clothing
- various snow sculpture placeables
- a sleigh placeable (more realistic, not Santa's)
- a tobagan placeable
- an icicle placeable that slowly drips water (like it's just forming or is melting)
- a white dragon's nest placeable
- wooden ski placeables (ski foot parts wouldn't look right when walking/running)
- a small placeable mug with hot chocolate and marshmallows
- a script that causes outdoor areas to change to snowfall during specific months of the game year
- an alteration to the
shapechange script so that the caster turns into a white dragon during winter instead of a red (keep most stats the same)
- an alteration to summoning scripts to change water elemetals to some sort of icy golem appearance (right after summoning) during winter times or in cold areas.
