I always assumed it was just that they must not be separately available during or immediately after the challenge...
This. The challenge only really makes sense in this context. I like the thought of server ops/module makers/whoever opening up each month's challenge hak like a little present and seeing what content might be a good fit for thier story- maybe even be introduced to the work of a new custom content maker they hadn't seen before.
On the other hand, I can't imagine it would be a problem to post a link to a WIP (say, in the challenge thread) so people can test it out. With things like scripts, creature models or complex placeables, being able to get feedback about any errors would be invaluable. It would be such a pain for everybody involved to submit something only to find that it has a serious error that needs correcting
after the pack hits the Vault. Probably not a big deal for most of the content submitted but for some things I could really see that being an important tool in the creaiton process.
I've been kicking around an idea or two which cover ground I'm not familiar with and getting feedback early would be a huge help.
I think it's reasonable to ask that anyone who evaluates such content would refrain from using the material in a work until the CCC hak is uploaded to the Vault, though.
Great work so far, everyone!
