Static placeables seem to be casting shadows just fine over here. Do you have Enable Environment Shadows turned on in your video options?
Conversely... is it possible to create an invisible mdl that still has geometry which casts shadows (would not be a static placeable)?
Yes, just uncheck "Render" on the Aurora Trimesh modifier for that geometry. If you have "Render" unchecked but leave "Shadows" checked on the same Aurora Trimesh modifier, the geometry will not render but will still cast a shadow.
Or even an invisible mdl that still has geometry, but as a static placeable would blend with the area's wok mesh.
A placeable need not have any geometry at all. It can just have a PWK. Or, it can also have geometry which is rendered invisible by turning off "Render" on the Aurora Trimesh modifier on it. Either way, the PWK will still merge with the WOK, preventing movement.
If so, how?
Does the question still apply after those answers?
I need a table that will support spawned items (typically a static placeable), and also cast a shadow (typically non-static).
All of the responses I just gave were based on tests carried out with with a hand-made placeable (gotta keep it fun!) and two other placeables- an easel and a corpse wagon.
