Ok, so it's a two part question:

1. Is there some way to have NWN Explorer display a model when the model itself uses a  "setsupermodel"? Especially when the other models are in the same hak?

2. Any way to see animations in any model (Creature, VFX, etc) with NWN Explorer?

Just some things that erk me. :-)

               (1) It only finds the stock Bioware  supermodels automatically but otherwise, if you unpack the model into a folder somewhere, unpack the custom supermodel(s) into the same folder and browse to it there, it will display.

(2) No. '<img'>

Well, you could always add the model to a HAK or verride folder, and open it in the Aurora Toolset.

I just finished uploading a Java 3D model viewer to the Vault.  It's a newer version of Revinor's Java model viewer which is designed to work with more recent versions of Java 3D, which is required to run it.  It was recompiled by a gentleman named Alesandro (I might have the spelling wrong here but it's correct on the Vault entry) and just never made it to the Vault.  It was released in 2009 or so.

HERE is where you can download it when it is approved.  Although it's not perfect, it's pretty nice.  For displaying models/emitters/tiles/etc. which you've already extracted from their archives.  It will display them, their animations and allow you to choose which animations to preview.  You can "explode" the model, view the nodes and generally do a whole lot more than you can with the standard BioWare model viewer- including viewing full animations for models which are supermodeled into other models.  As long as you've extracted all of the models in the supermodel chain, anyway.  It also does a good previewing NWN emitters- though some things like P2P are not supported in preview.

Under the screenshots is a link to a brief tutorial video which shows you how to get the most out of it.  Again, it's not perfect.  But it does have some very useful features not seen in other NWN model viewers.

I am not the most prolific in java so I was wondering if I could ask this here as well (I posted on vault page as well then realized prob. be better posted here)

have installed the java runtime, most up-to-date version. I have installed java-3d.
but when I lauch the batch file I get

exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoclassDefFoundError: javax/media/j3d/canvas3d

not sure what that means or what i have to do?
all the files from the .rar archive have been placed in their own folder.
can someone more knowledgeable in Jar files and the like give me some hint?

google searches only tell me to recompile? and the like?

               nevermind..lol.
for others having similar problems.

make sure you install (or already have installed) the Java runtime BEFORE downloading the java 3d.

if you do it backwards like I did java-3d is not configured properly( and no you cannot install java 3d- then java then re-install java 3d...still doesnt work.)

               Lordofworms,

What is the version of Java you have installed and what is the version of Java 3D you have installed?  I assume you're using Windows, right?

What version of Java are you running according to this web page?

Does your Java 3D show up as working on this test page? (you should see a spinning 3D logo)

What version of Java3D is shown as being installed in your Add/Remove Programs control panel in Windows?

My version of Java (as determined by the web page I link to above) is:
Java Version: 1.6.0_22 from Sun Microsystems Inc.

In my Add/Remove Programs I have:
Java 3D 1.5.1
Jave 3D 1.5.2

(I presume this is because at some point I updated to the newer version)
Let me know back!

Ah, I see from the NWVault that you got your problem sorted out.  Good!

yes and just to confirm, when I installed backwards (meaning I installed the java3d and THEN the java runtimes) I was able to see the spining logo, java pages confirmed that everything was working. I checked my add/remove programs (yes running windows XP) and I had most up to date versions.
so it was throwing me for a loop, then I just removed everything and did it runtime then 3d. worked like a charm after that.
thank you for your quick response and hopefully this helped with anyone else running into problems.
