Problem running my own module from 6 years ago...
« on: March 27, 2011, 05:57:44 pm »

I created a massive Neverwinter Nights module six years ago. It's linked to above. I reinstalled NWN with all expansions so I could replay it and maybe take some videos off it for my portfolio.

The problem is, it won't run. It complains about a missing tlk file. There is no tlk file in the zip file I downloaded and reading my own read me file from six years ago, no such file is mentioned in the installation instructions. 1.5k people downloaded it and many commented about it, so obviously it is supposed to work.

Any ideas what's wrong?

What TLK file? It should tell you the name. Once you will know name you can grab any tlk file you got in TLK folder, copy it and rename to this name. Then you should be able to open it. At least in case its really missing TLK issue...

my guess is your using CEP in your mod build and need the relevent CEP talk file in your TLK folder (make this folder if it doesnt exist)

It's actually says "missing required custom talk table". I assume it's refering to a tlk file...

The files in my CEP file are: cep2_v1.tlk , cep21_v1.tlk , cep22_v1.tlk and cep23_v1.tlk

the .tlk files you find in your hak folder should be in your

c:\\neverwinternights\\nwn\\tlk

folder, if such a folder does not exist, make one.

Be well. Game on.

then try to run the module as a new game, there it should tell you the missing files name

Mmm... There's no tlk files in my hak folder and it doesn't give me the missing file name even when I do start a new game...

I downloaded it and was able to open it even without cep.tlk file which it told me it require.

What nwn version do you have? Do you have cep1 ? Note that CEP2 is not compatible with 1 so if you downloaded cep2 that may be it.
