Bioware clothing textures - pixelation issues
« on: February 09, 2011, 05:35:29 pm »

So in my ongoing project to fix textures and icons for the clothing hak for Mythos, I've run into an annoying snag that I can't figure out.  While the standard Bioware plt files for clothing inventory icons export out of the bif files just fine, the actual texture files come out highly pixilated.

Example here of torso model #34 - Changed Metal 1 to use Metal 2 instead so the torsos between male and female match.   Well... now they are the same colors but WOW the male needs to find a better armor shop, 'cause that looks horrible!

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong to have caused the file to be so icky?  The pixelation happened before I changed the colors, I just didn't notice it until testing in the toolset.  I've tried "NWN Explorer Reborn 1.6.3" and "NWN Bif Unpacker v1.0".

A very small selection of completed icons can be seen here

Where did you pull the plt texture from? You ideally want it from Textures_Tpa.erf, as all textures stored in the main NWN .bifs are very low res (though as I recall the expansions used higher res .plts in the main .bif files).

               Nuuuuu I haven't got time.

I've got Java and C programs to write, a lecture presentation to do, 2 midterms next week.  Clothing work I see somewhere oh.. about May or June.  Did you have a deadline?

Well at least the front of that list sounds like more fun than icon work.  *grins*  If I'm not done with this mess before May... yeah... that would be bad.
