chest parts and armor
« on: February 05, 2011, 09:42:07 pm »

I am curious how armor works. You've got an index for each chest part in parts_chest.2da, numbered chest mdl's for each race and phenotype, and then in the toolset when you customize armor you have yet another index that does not seem to relate to the other two.

Do the armor parts when showing up in the armor appearance window sort by AC value?

I want to add some armor parts from feanor's medieval armoury hak to my own set of haks, but am having trouble figuring out which MDL/PLT to grab.

Yes, in toolset, armor pieces sort by the AC column.

Otherwise they usually sort by model number.

Sometimes you're better off to make a module and use a clothing dummy, sometimes you can get away with using NWNExplorer to figure out what models you actually want.  Toolset is pretty useless for sorting out what you want out of a hak.

Yeah, i'm in the explorer right now and looking at textures. it was worth using the toolset to look at what I wanted, now i'm just finding it all visually. this will be awesome when I am done. I keep telling myself that.

I like that armor sorts by armor class, but it is a PITA to rip this content out of another hak.
