Shameless Self-Promotion Thread
« on: September 21, 2010, 04:59:53 pm »

Hi folks.  Just posting a little shameless self-promotion for those builders, players, or visitors that haven't been involved with NWN for very long.  There are some of us that have been making things available for others to use for quite some time, and I really think that custom content is one of the things that helps to keep this game going more than 8 years after it was released.  This particular post contains links to NWN content I've made available over the last few years.

Disclaimer: Yes, I am trying to get those that haven't tried out my works to take a look.  The title of this thread kind of spells it out.

Content authors/creators: Feel free to hijack this thread to post links to your own work, especially if your stuff has been available for some time and might be lacking in feedback.  If I've used your work, or if I've tried it out and just think it's a good idea, or if I think of a suggestion that might improve your work, I'll let you know.

The Amethyst Dragon's Shameless Self-Promotion:

Since the BioWare social forum likes to mess with formatting if/when you are updating an existing post, I'm keeping an updated list of my content (and links to all of it) on my own forum.  That complete list is here:

Nothing wrong with a little self-promotion, especially when the submissions are as lovely as yours. '<img'>  If it's alright, I think I'll jump on the bandwagon and post one of my own.

Arcadia City Tileset - My first custom content piece and the only one I've released publicly.  It's a reskin of the standard Bioware city to make it more ancient, more lived-in, more Mediterranean.  I'm only 4 votes short of the Hall of Fame, but I've been those 4 votes short for a very long time.

AD, I wish I could claim to be shameless, but I'm afraid that's not the case. I have long enjoyed several of your very fine works (most notably the GUI Overhaul and Colorized Icons) and have been quite remiss in not properly thanking you by posting on the appropriate Vault pages.':crying:' I must do better at that, but in the mean time I will now express my great gratitude for all that you continually add to NWN. Indeed, I must concur with you on the idea that CC keeps this game going; I, therefore, believe you have done much to extend its life. Thank you, great and noble drake.'B)'

I'd say you have nothing to be ashamed of at all Amethyst.  Given your willingness to help people out wih requests, just because, and your willingness to share your content, not just with your world but with everyone.  I have remembered to vote for your stuff, even after all these years I love your GUI, I don't think I could play NWN without it anymore (which reminds me that i need to patch my linux box).

I sadly have no truly unique work of my own, more often than not simply cleaning up, fixing, recompiling the works of the past, to make them play together for a better experience for players.

Just a quick thank you to the folks that tried out the elementals and left feedback/votes on them.  They've now been inducted into the Vault's Hall of Fame and will be making their way into the CEP.

Other works included in CEP you may be using already:
- potion bottle inventory icons
- mythallar crystal placeables

I didn't want to advertise this tileset, but it's been stuck on 13 votes for like forever. Since this
thread is for shameless self-promotion, I thought I might show you a few screenshots here and maybe get at least one more vote to get rid of the 13. I'm not superstitious, but this 13 really has been bad luck '<img'>.
So here is the link to the mines and cavern tileset with gnome homes.
And here are the screenshots:

I hope you like them!
And thanks for this thread, Amethyst Dragon!

Bump, just because I'd be thankful for more feedback/comments/votes on the individual entries with turkey-day rolling around.

A sincere thank you for the votes and feedback so far, everyone.  As of today, Aenea and the publicly released content made for it have now picked up 15 Vault Hall of Fame awards.  The latest one is for Generation 2 of the colorized spell icons.

In addition, I've added a new submission to the list in the first post, a set of player-side override models to change the coloration of the visual effect tied to a monk's Ki Strike ability. (Sample images 2 of 8 possible colors shown below)

They've been available for over 5 1/2 years (and have been in the CEP for a long time), and now my potion bottles have gotten my works a 16th Hall of Fame award.  Thanks for all the votes and feedback, everyone!  What a nice way to start a new year.

Oh, and it seems that my "classic elementals" might eventually be making their way into future updates to both the CEP and Project Q.

Man, that's incredible work. I thought the shots posted above looked pretty decent, and they weren't even the best of the bunch you had to show.

I'll sign up for an account on the vault once I have a little more time tomorrow, and give you a vote. '<img'>

Zwerkules, that tileset is all kinds of awesome.  I'm currently kicking myself for missing it earlier.

               :innocent:

Scroll Icons: Colorized (Generation 2)

'Posted

Override-folder scroll icons for all the NWN spells, made using the newer Generation 2 of the colorized spell icons.  Image on scroll is slightly smaller to show that it is a scroll and not just a spell icon sitting in inventory, with slightly darker parchment so that the icons stand out better.

Nice work on this, OldTimeRadio.  With a little work, I could see this being used in the demonic areas of my game.
