CEP 2.3 Update on the Updater?
« on: September 10, 2010, 09:20:55 pm »

Just wondering on the Updater and if maybe we should start looking to the Old Way for updating CEP. I understand Acaos got hit by a meltdown awhile back and wondering if anyoen could possibly from the CEP Team have any news or ideas.

I understand real life so not complaining just wondering as I have not seen anything listed anywhere on the CEP Forums or threads.

Thanks for all you guys do.

Most current news I have is that Malishara is still working hard on the ROAR which is going to be an in-game customizable crafting system for persistent worlds. It was publicly tested a couple weeks ago I believe but I was out of town.

Other than that Acaos, as you said, is having computer problems and Barry_1066 is hosting a game during our weekly meeting time so I haven't talked to either in a few weeks.

As far as I know everyone is working on adding new content but it may take a little while to get it out to the public.

CEP 2.3 Update on the Updater?

I just looked into CEP 2das to check compability with my upgoing expanded itemproperties version for community patch hak.

Can you guys explain me why you added like 5 new visual effect types?

Also, why you added your own version of Item Increase/Decrease cost when you could use PRC's one (which is better) and disallowed that compability between CEP and PRC?

I can't speak for the CEP team, but as a builder that uses the CEP, I see no problem with them adding to 2da files.

New visual effect types?  If they are working on a way of adding new ones that will work for weapons, I'm all for it.

Increase/decrease item value?  Sounds to me like a good option to have available.

I don't personally use PRC in my PW (it's not even on my computer)...just CEP with my own custom haks on top of that.  Even my own haks aren't necessarily CEP-compatible (I actually rearrange some CEP data in some 2das because I was already using certain lines).  I don't see why CEP would need to be kept compatible with PRC (or other larger packages like Project Q)...all such works tend to overlap/conflict considerably, and expecting any of them to just use stuff developed by other projects would limit creativity. And of course people would have a hissy fit if one project ended up just using a feature from another (especially if the newer stuff isn't fully compatible with the other project).

They all hardcoded, none of them works, I find it quite stupid to have nonworking features.

My point of view. The PRC team was the first who made up the cost increase and decrease itemproperty. In PRc there is few of these with scalable cost to allow to make -1M to +1M cost. CEP suddenly added it too, but on his own line with his own (worse imo) approach that dont have so much possibilities as tthe PRC's one. This exactly could be made compatible via using the PRC's approach on their lines, which are in CEP empty.

When all those projects trying to make it incompatible with any other, it don't seems to be right to me. If its possible they should keep compability. And it was possible, now is too late however.':bandit:'

Maybe they were unaware that the PRC had done this, and simply came up with a different approach.

Or maybe it has to do with the new crafting systems or some unreleased feature.

Either way it is known your dislike for CEP, Shadow. You have voiced your concerns over this many, many times. Even started guilds dedicated to spreadign your anger towards the CEP Team and Barry in particular.

While I do not defend everything they have done or put in it is indeed a good system for many people and servers. If you disagree then make your own system and offer that as railing against a system and not offering your own is well...lets just leave it at that.

Either way, they have thier own forums and I am sure you can ask the question there.

No, not true, there wasn't nothing personal ever. I even don't know Barry, also there are very good modders in team, especially acaos.

EDIT: And I would say objections rather than anger, but if you feel it that way, I admit that Anti-guild (any) can sounds like that... Didn't figured better way to point it out.
