Unreal Editor 3 Neverwinter Nights Comunity Team
« on: July 28, 2010, 01:02:49 am »

If your not intrested and you think i would like you to join this team project please post a reply since i dont want to ask everyone indivdually with tells for times sake.

Im taking on the unreal editor 3 and trying to push for a comerical game.Any profits made over 5000 us dollars lets the creators of the game engine to jump in and take 25 of whatever is made after the 5000 dollar limit. The unreal editor can make games for i phones, playstation, and xbox.

I really think i can push a game out with the help of the unreal development comunity, but id like to work with the nwn comunity since like and know some people around here.Right now im just reading, reading, and reading. You can completely make your own game.

Im not asking for people to dicth nwn but i would suggest looking into it.I currently still work on my mod as i figure other do as well, but putting something out there as one of our games would be great and bentifical. My real goal though is to snacth everyone up and make one heck of a team. The talents all here its just a matter of getting people to get involved.

                                                                           Current  Goals

                                                                                                                                                                                                     1. Find people who will commit to a 2 - 3 year project

2.Understand the unreal editor

3.Discuss a game everyone wants to work on

I could reall use some help....it would make things a little easier if i had some comunity support. Its not just that either i mean everyone here knows what the heck there doing and has alot of good ideas backed by skill...So why shouldnt we team up and make our own comerical game..

Please leave a comment  good or bad.

You're asking a community of amateur modders to take themselves away from their labors of love to dedicate themselves to a commercial project for years with no compensation other than the vague possibility of a little cash at the end of that time, no information on what they'd be working on, and no incentive.  You also mentioned that you'd want any volunteers working with a completely different game engine than the one we all know and are here posting about.

I don't mean to be rude, but what did you expect would happen?

All this after you asked in another thread if you could use people's custom content for said commercial project without their permission?

So first you checked up on the legality of stealing from the modders here, and then you decided to try and see if they'll work for you for free.    What part of you is surprised that you got no responses?

My advice to you, is to learn how to model and code yourself, and then make the game you've always wanted to make.  That's what this forum is all about.

Well i guess i got the no good responses...not what i was really looking forward too.OK so here comes the response sigh.

Shadow.....its not remakeing the engine but i do like the way nwn is set up with the camera the floating text above pcs heads and dice rolls. So i would see nwn as a definte stepping stone as in the game style.

Eradain......I am asking people to step away from nwn when they are bored of working on there things but i dont expect them to totaly dicth there ideas and work in progress.I see it as a way of doing something else when your bored.

As for the diffent game engine....yes it isnt easy to just walk into.It is set up though very well. Some nice and new intresting tools, which make me happy.

As for useing nwn models for importing into unreal.Yes i did ask that but there was no metion of stealing any of it.If anything i rather have the person who made thembut there are some things made that i could use thats why i asked.

Most importantly is the mone issue. There is no money up front. It kind of sucks but thats the way it is......if we could develop a game which is attractive then we could see profits divided equaly. Not every game summited we be liscensed but thats the chance you take.

Thats why im here because i like working with people around here, there smart, and talented.I personaly would really only like to work with people ive seen in the forums before and that im firmillar with that wont cause problems in a group.Stsateing your dislikes about the post dont realy tick me off.At least im getting some feed back about what people think.

Oh...as for the game layout that noone knows about.Well there is noone yet.tryen to get a team together to decide that and all be on the same page.

I am highly interested in this project and would like to help any way I can. I have downloaded the unreal editor 3 a couple of months ago. I haven't really been able to figure it out yet as I cant seem to find any tutorials for it but with some guidance and direction I think I may be able to figure it out.

This topic is just totally out of topic here. This is a NWN forum, not an Unreal 3. As such it should be taken to U3 mod forums and not here.
What if we suddenly have a lot of people wanting to make an adaptation of NWN to their favorite game engine? Are we going to have to swim through unrelated topics to find our NWN CC topics?

I can understand your idea and project, and it's somewhat an interesting one, though totally unrealistic unless you have a team of 30-50 about competent people. Still, it has NOTHING to do in a NWN forum. And as such I politely ask you cease to post such out of topic subject, or I'll feel forced to put you in my ignore list.
I'm here to enjoy my favorite game, enjoy creating stuff and sharing it for the pleasure of it. Im not here for money, even less to find a job or anything like it. And i'm totally fed up with that "Please insert-game-company-name give me a job!" trend. NO, game modding is not about finding a job or money, it's just about modding a game and having fun with it, dammit!
So please, just let us having fun with our game, without unwanted and unrelated topics. Thanks!

This is definitely off topic for here. If you like, you can use your blog or group functionality on this site to recruit people for your project, but it's definitely not NWN related.

One key thing to keep in mind (and I'm unclear of your intention about this) is that everything related to NWN is licensed, so you cannot legally use any of the assets (whether BioWare created or community created) for a commercial game. At least, that's how I understand it. If you need clarification on this aspect of your intended project, I'd suggest checking with Chris Priestly. He can likely steer you in the proper direction to get answers/info.
