To the Winner go the Spoils/End of the Road:

Nice!  In my PnP games I've always had the odd tavern with something like a trophy weapon (perhaps an oversized ogre's sword) on the wall above the bar, or a (badly taxidermied) dragon head on a shelf.  Something the locals can tell stories about or even have stolen as a plot hook.

Masters of the Wild/ Let's make camp:

I like this one all on it's own.  I don't see any need to tie it into the plants theme, since it's got so much room for new content directly related to it.  I can imagine a whole nomadic barbarian village outfitted with this sort of stuff.  And it would give rangers those wilderness snares that they use for survival or for thwarting invading orcs.  Druids might even benefit from the skinnned animals and such in the form of a goal: wiping out the camp of a group of poachers that are killing every nearby animal with fur.

I tried to add these to the poll for November, but evidently it won't allow the poll to be edited if there's at least a single vote.  I will get these onto the one for December though.  Ideas with both variety and good descriptions...too good to pass up.

Nicely done Rolo although I wish you had made it plain that to go to the vault you click on the number of votes. Just too darned clever for an old grinning cat ('^_^').

Theme idea based on a post by henesua:

Overhead Stuff: More and more tilesets feature visible ceilings, why not have some overhead features visible from below?  The undersides of trapdoors, open chimney holes, hanging light sources, nasty looking eggs/pods, ceiling spikes with impaled corpses, ceilings with artwork painted or sculpted on them, fabrics hanging across the ceiling, spiders/bugs that move up the walls and across the ceiling, scripted visual effects that appear overhead (ghosts, sprites, etc.), a variety of tree/plant roots hanging down and/or across, swings mounted to the rafters, various vines hanging down, or even placeable bats roosting overhead.

               Couple of ideas-
  • Grubby - Now this isn't a criticism of content creators but how come everything looks so darned new. So how about making some things that look well used. Maybe even positively caked with mud/dirt etc.
  • Literary favourites - How about making things from the pages of your favourite book(s)? For example the ornithopters from the Dune books, Fire Lizards from the P.E.R.N. books, Jhary A'Conel and Whiskers from the eternal champion saga etc. The list could go on and on (Tik Tok from the OZ books).
One thought on the actual list. How about once a year having a list that consists solely of suggestions that have recieved zero votes in the past so that the challenge is not entirely dominated by challenges that produce things that we are already familiar with.

Dang! I'd forget my own head if it wasn't screwed on tight!

A Suggestion I've been meaning to make for ages-

MiniMax - Simply miniature and macro stuff. For example the four legs of a giants chair (or the whole chair even), a 3 meter tall chicken (I like chickens ('^_^')), a 2 meter tall cup and saucer (Alice?), a tileset of miniatures, etc.

Since I've pretty much taken over administering the CCC, tonight I've started putting together a complete list of themes that have been suggested and/or used in the polls over the last couple of years.  I'm working on going back and getting the names of those that made each suggestion so that I have that information in one spot (with each theme summary), but for now the initial list is done and I am posting it here just for those that are curious.

I've got it divided into several sections: themes that have been used, themes in the current poll, themes that have been suggested but not yet added to a monthly poll, and themes that have been removed for lack of votes.

@AD respects man for that list - it must have taken quite a bit of trawling. One little suggestion is that I suspect there are some items in it that may be duplicates under different names. For example hot desert stuff and the one that was done for September just gone. There are others. It might be a good idea to do a little look through eliminating newer suggestions that are duplicates and posting on here to explain why. I say this even though I have suspician that my last suggestion MiniMax may fall into this category.

Recently while compiling some overriding haks for my own PW and another, I noticed that there seems to be a shortage of choices in two things. Well, I'm certain there are hundreds of "things" we'd all like actually, but two I've yet found anything decent for are ...

Couches ...

and Hobgoblins.

I've benches and chairs aplenty between Vault offerings and the CEP, but those two categories I can't find anything decent.

If you give your suggestion a title and a short description/summary (to tell everyone what you are looking for and possibly several ideas), it can get added to the poll in the future.

               Suggestion:

Tile Magic

Tilesets in NWN are fairly static affairs, but tile magic enables a builder to introduce dynamic elements like,  for example, a flood of lava throughout a dungeon level. While tile magic has been useful for adding floods of liquids in our dungeons, I do not believe its potential has been tapped yet. There is great potential here as it enables a builder to introduce dynamic elements to a tile especially animations that respond to a player rather than being set on or off by the builder and then stuck that way.

Some ideas I have had recently include: the standard ruin features in various standard tilesets could have ghostly glowing ethereal versions of the intact building which are spawned during nights of the full moon. Several tilesets have buildings with chimneys that can be turned on by the builder to emit smoke. I'd like to have a VFX that looks just like those smoke emitters in the tile and thus be able to turn the chimney smoke on or off via script. How about dangly mesh cobwebs that can be spawned or despawned on the walls of various crypt tiles? Or the tile patterns in the ruins tileset suddenly come to life with a magical glow?

Discerning custom content creators will realize that Tile Magic doesn't have to be a tile added to the visualaffects.2da, but could be anything that compliments a tileset. VFXs work, as do placeables. Even a well designed creature can serve this purpose, the old Drow boat trick might spring to mind.

Tilemagic is a state of mind.

                <fighting...>

Theme: Who's that?
Description: A theme for the non-modelers (though new models are always welcome!). Colorful NPCs, Professional NPCs, celebrities, sidekicks and henchmen. Build NPCs to bring life to your cities and villages (FP!). Give them special items and write witty dialogue. Especially the dialogue. Give us a library of dialogues for butchers, bakers and blacksmiths (Hah! Thought I was going to say Candlestick makers, didn't you? Well, them too:-).

Write a news/rumor system for heralds and criers <been done>
Write a new one <why?>
Grrr. Write a gossip system that *uses* the dynamic rumor system to provide chatter between old women <and wizards>
Yeah. Wait, what? <just roll with it, old man>
Hrmph. Let the PCs overhear juicy gossip they haven't the wits to search out <ouch>

Script acrobat/thespian cutscenes that can be dropped in anyone's mod to provide background (or opportunity).
Script merchant/customer arguements. Write better merchant dialogue. Give henchmen something better to say than "D'uh" or "Ugga!" <oh, you'll pay for that one>

And, lastly (sort of), Make NPC avatars of your favorite suspe...er, personalities :-) <oh, man! can i do that one?>
Only if it's not me. <spoilsport>
Hey! This fellow had platinum in his purse =) <they're watching...>
*hides "his" new pouch* Right. Let's go!

Edit: Like it, H :-)

<...through the crowd>

               Suggestion:
How about tileset exapansion. Grab your favorite bioware tileset and make an extra feature or group.

Suggestion:
Similar vein as Rolo's for those that don't model. Quests that can be imported. These can range from simple to as complex as you're comfortable making.

               Suggestion:
Dog collars, leashes, and armor, like the equipment for horses. Amateurs/non-modelers could try making a prefab pet store or animal shelter, perhaps adapting the horse and hench scripts to make the pets purchasable.

               Chronicles of Krynn

A challenge focused on the Dragonlance universe. That could include:

Creatures uniques from Krynn, like draconians, gully dwarfs or rideable dragons (even when I understand that this last would be hard to made).

Clothes and/or armors based on the official DL art, like the great work made by Lisa. A great addition could be the dragonlord armor....

Kender heads for halfings, solanic knight heads with their typical moustache; or any head base on the official DL art, again like Lisa....

Mythic weapons of Krynn, like the dragolances itself, short and large  versions; The hammer of Karas, etc....

Dragon orbs, with scripts, for attract dragons and with a will save needed to use it...
