Ok now that I'm here a little more...

So I used to play like everything... Epic Wizard, Pale Master/Red Dragon Disciple, Shadow thief thingy can't remember, Paladin, pure sorceror, fighter/thief, fighter/mage, Wizard/Archmage. I can't remember which were base game classes and which were in Hordes of the Underdark though.

Can't say I ever played a bard though! Maybe I missed out ''

Tried some modules once upon a time, found some pretty fun ones, maybe some not so fun ones. Played Hordes of the Underdark a bunch, not so much Shadows of Undrentide.

All in all though, good experiences.

You shud try NWN's AD&D 3.0 bard.  Not like BG bard at all.  Party love hi-lvl bard to play with them.

Can be very OP when combine with Ftr, CoT or BG.  Also make uber RDD that many PW ban cuz canna balance with other classes.  Feat calld Lasting Inspiration give buff that last 5 hrs and canna be dispelled even Level 40 mage using Mord.  Curse also nasty and not to be dispelled.  Only way to lose buff if enemy bard sing opposite nearby.

Oh, also can sing when in polymorph.  Very cool to see Tenser singing 'B)'

The one thing I love in nwn are the cutscenes. I would like to create cutscenes professional for my new module but I need a tutorial for it

@WhiteTiger 2 things to look at -

  1. The lexicon for cutscene tutorials and

  2.
  3. The Gestalt Cutscene Scripting System which comes complete with a short tutorial (and is what I used)

For a game made that early, this game is really unbelievable...Mind blowing adventures and stories, the almost endless CC possibilities and modules are just out of this world. Let alone "inspired" many many later RPG games....I recently played a game called "Divinity:Original Sin",and it's almost like another module of this game. It's truly a pioneer no less.

Funny, that's actually the one thing I hate in NWN (and RPGs and games in general). Here is what I wrote about cutscenes in Darkness Over Daggerford, for example:

The module often employs cutscenes or locks the camera at a certain angle with only dialogue being selectable by the player. These are primitive, over-used and add nothing to the atmosphere or immersion - indeed, quite the opposite. There is no need to take control of the camera and character from the player for such simple segments that can be scripted in real-time. I mean, wow: A halfling steps into a wagon - MUST HAVE CUTSCENE. Really, now? The Aielund Saga is a good example of how to script segments in real-time, adding to the immersion instead of breaking it. Moreover, there are two other problems brought on by cutscenes: first, they break your stealth and can cause the enemy to get the jump on the party and that's simply unfair; second, Ossian were not thorough in preventing the player from trying to skip cutscenes with the Esc-key, so that if the player hits Esc it can cause awful bugs to manifest, such as the area repeatedly reloading, over and over, for example. So yeah, cutscenes: I can't stand them.

You must hate my modules then as I use short and very short cut-scenes as part of my storey telling style (look in my projects link in sig).

I doubt I could hate any honest effort by a community member.. for example, I don't hate DoD per se, but rather just its use of cutscenes. An Ossian dev commented on my blog and said there were reasons for the cutscenes, but he never explained why...

I would prefer to simply avoid a module that employed cutscenes to tell a story, no matter how good the story is (I don't play RPGs primarily for their stories, anyway).

I've heard about Divinity a few times but haven't actually tried it yet.

I started doing cutscenes to 'reward' the players with special ending sequences to quests or battles.

Then I made it so the cutscenes were instanced via nwnx_areas, and the cutscene could be re-triggered by players by talking to a special npc.

Basically allowed them to relive the cutscene at their leisure.

I like this one, cause I basically used the Final Fantasy X  Sending scene, (heck I even called the woman 'Yuna')

I got it synchronized to the music perfectly (after many attempts)

I like the bit where the torch blazes to life. (35 seconds in)

I started SoU recently with a bard build with the intention to turn him into a Red Dragon Disciple but ran into that skidding bug that won't allow me to play with WASD keyboard movement in zoomed-in over the shoulder view, which is how I want to play it, make that must play it to keep the experience fresh after having played NWN with many modules years ago.  It would have been my first Bard in NWN.  Really was looking forward to it.
