Starting up, few questions about enhancements
« on: October 16, 2015, 12:58:24 am »

Its been a long while since i touched Neverwinter Nights, i never beat it through completion - bought the Diamond Edition some time back but never really touched it, well now i feel like playing it but i got a few questions

i'm looking for Graphical enhancements and such, something that adds on to the Original Campaigns.

Project Q- i've seen a lot of people talking about this but is there any patch or some such that allows the Original Campaigns to make use of the content available in Project Q ( Better textures, animations, improved models, extended monsters/weapons ) or is it just something only for module makers to make use of?

If so, is there anything similar in the liking of it that improves Animation/Textures, models and such, but something that can be used with the OC's?

Welcome back to NWN! It's not a new game, but there is still plenty of new stuff for it.

You probably want to take a look through jmlzemaggo's list of "Add-ons & Tips from the NWN Community", a post that is stickied in this forum. It is a list primarily of override add-ons which will effect any of Bioware's Original Campaigns (the OC, SoU, or HotU) or any module that doesn't specifically alter the things the overrides are altering.

I think that project Q has an override version that should work in the OC and other campaigns. Someone who has more experience with it will probably know about this, but I am pretty sure that it is in jml's list because it was an override.

Anyone many of the things in that list seem to be the sort that you are interested in.

You might want to check out the "Neverwinter Nights facelift haks" by Zwerkules.

In answer to your actual question:

You can find the Q Campaigns here.

Awesome stuff, thanks! probably should have paid attention to the stickied threads before posting this.

As for the Project Q OC thing, it works for the most part but has some problems such as missing gear icons and door handle/hinges textures and who knows what else seeing how it hasn't been updated in awhile i guess it doesn't work entirely well with the latest Project Q stuff (or maybe i just installed it all wrong!)

Now to look over all the stuff and see what to take and install! (and how to get the NWN Shaders to save/work)

You asked; I provided. Even the latest CEP has it's issues but, regardless, it answers your question. You aren't going to find an All-in-One out of the box solution and, if you're going to do legwork to hunt down and add resources, I'm not sure what the issue is. The game isn't capable of presuming what haks are needed and add them automatically upon loading. Project Q has had some expansion in number of haks and a bit of reshuffling of resources from one to the other but it's all there. Since you are going to do some legwork anyway, this is easily rectified:

Copy the Q Campaign files to the module folder and change the extensions from .nwm to .mod.

Open each resulting module with the toolset and make sure to add all current Q haks under Module Properties.

Save / compile module. Repeat for each Campaign module and expansions.

Change extensions back to .nwm and relocate them back to the .nwm folder, overwriting the original Q Campaign files.

As always, make sure you have your original unaltered .nwm files backed up.

Issues such as missing textures could also be caused by bad installation - one needs to run critical rebuild patch 1.69 then.
