Could not load the Module - error.
« on: December 20, 2014, 01:47:02 pm »

Hello, i have a problem with Nwn1. When i am trying load savegame i got this error message - Could not load the Module. Module file might be corrupt OR it was created using a newer version of the toolset and/or game resources. Yesterday i saved in ogre-mage cavern in port llast, today i cant load this savegame.

Usually when the game tells you that there is corruption, it means that you can't get back into the save game. Try this: load a new game with the same mod and see if there is a problem with the mod or just your save. If it's the mod, you will probably have to delete it and download it again. You might be able to use the old save (not sure though). If the mod loads fine, that means your save is corrupted. Did you use a custom portrait? Try going to the save and deleting the file called portrait.tga and than reloading the save. Sometimes that works.  Usually the folder is here:  C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\saves\xxxxxx  (where xxxxx is the name of your save game).

Barring all else, do you have a quick save or an auto save that you can use instead?

Deleting portrait.tga didn change anything. And unfortunately this was only one my save.

That is a real shame. In the future, the default button to do a separate quick save is G. If I may, I'd like to take the time to introduce you to the new vault. Home of tons of top notch user created content for NWN (and other games). Many of the mods are better and more interesting than the original. Here is a link if you're interested.  http://neverwinterva...rg/catalog/nwn1

Sorry I couldn't be more help!

Keeping 2-3 saves of your current playthrough is a good idea for any game in general.  I personally have never had a corrupted save game in NWN but I've seen it in other games.

I'll also echo icywind's point of the vault -- the real meat of NWN lies in the custom content, with many custom campaigns better than the official campaigns (and better than stuff like Dragon Age).

If there is no way to fix it, can someone send me save file from chapter 2 or smth around it?

I'm afraid you will have to start over. This time, keep multiple saves so that if this happens again (unlikely), it won't be as devastating. Multiple save also allow you to go back and change bad decisions.

We could make "saves" category on the vault..

I thought that ''+Pretty Good Char Creator v43 CEP2'' had a port to all of the unlocked chapters in the OC, HoTU and SoU.

               @ Xrosha

Technically - if memory serves, Save games are just Mod files.
I think if you rename its extension to be .mod, you may be able to open it in toolset.

Toolset may allow you to recover it - by allowing you to determine the source of the error.
Eg: If its override files that are missing, haks, or tlk entries.

It may also allow you to repack the mod into a fixed version, which can then be loaded up as a new module (which would be the equivelant of loading the game again)
