Just finished Gladiatrix 1 and 2. Reached level 12 and 16 respectively with same character. Second one was not quite so linear as the first which I prefer, although it had a couple of bugs.
There is a potential 'cheat' in there. You need to play a human female fighter with at least 12 charisma at level 1, and there are plenty of charisma boosting items, so it pays to have a class that benefits from that attribute. The first time I played, I simply went fighter/paladin. Remembering that it is possible to become evil, I immediately took the quest that allowed me to do so at the start. Thus I went from LG L4 Fighter/L8 Paladin to LE L4 Fighter/L8 Paladin, then taking the next two levels as Blackguard. You can pay to revert your alignment back to good. The sword you get for that quest to become evil easily pays for that cost. Two levels of Blackguard really boosts this characters ability, with poison use, bonus saves, strike good and a strength spell. Having reverted back to Paladin from level 15 onwards, the loss of a spell (up to 26) and +2 damage when striking evil is more than mitigated by the saving throw increases alone. Of course a Paladin should not have taken that quest in the first place but the temptation of that power was too great. My bad.
