Where to get Modules now?
« Reply #90 on: July 06, 2014, 12:52:19 am »

I'm not happy about this turn of events, and hope for a positive conclusion. I know everything is backed up, if in a wholesale messy fashion. I'm just glad the files are preserved.

I do want to mention that I AM incredibly grateful for the community, and even if the ign vault is closing, how grateful I am for more than a decade of a great environment at IGN to support our NWN community.

I'm still able to get in thru the back door, as it were.  (using the host file mod).  But I think I heard one of the module authors say he couldn't update his mod though.

So things still aren't quite right with it.  I hope (crossing fingers) that somehow someone with IGN fixes the issue.  After all, this problem did occur before and later on everything turned out OK.

Though I don't think it lasted this long the last time around.  Still hoping for the best, preparing for the worst...

Looks like there is some activity going on.  nwvault.ign.com now redirects to IGN's NWNwiki and there has been several edits to that wiki in the last 15 hours.

Unfortunately, even after reaching the vault after altering the 'hosts' file, nothing can be downloaded. At least that's my experience.

   Neverwinter Vault Maintenance

The Neverwinter Vault is currently undergoing maintenance and the site is temporarily redirecting to this page. Apologies for the inconvenience -- we know Neverwinter Vault is an awesome resource and we're working to restore nwvault.ign.com as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately, Wayback only archives web pages (I believe they are archiving music and video if the server owner gives them permission to do so), not the contents of file servers.  If you are into reading lists of information, it works great.  I found the old legacy Bioware character builds there a few years back including the images but those were only web pages.

sure thing. But what i noticed now is how many old modules were not working anyway anymore because people just abandoned them and so patch 1.69 broke them here and there. Also haks were so outdated, files not available and so on so this is also a way to show us what works today for us and what was just there but broken for years. If you think about all the CEP modules that worked only for that version and so on it made me angry at times that you needed so many different ****.. versions of the same stuff over and over again. MAny authors just droped in and droped out which is not bad i mean but as a USER it can be frustrating filling your hak folder with 500 hakpaks... with head compilations alone 20...

Yep, defo gotta agree with that! Very annoying for us, but then again, I can't really blame the authors. Must be even more annoying for them tbh. Making a great mod just to see them become crap after each update, ugh. I feel for them

really? it should work fine actually, anyway, we could do something about it, but its not that easy without playing that module

basically: open, recompile all scripts - fix those that fails to compile if possible (some will fail because of missing parameter but overally 99% scripts should be fine) and alternatively replace cep1 haks with never updates (where little diversity happens because there is cep 1 1.69 and cep 1 1.69/1.70/1.71 from me so we need to decide which to go for)
