Er...from what I understand we're not using Gamespy for anything at this point?  You need NWNCX to see the Gamespy "list" so it's not even actually using Gamespy as far as I know.

Obviously, the Gamespy servers for NWN are down already. I don't know if this will have broader implications, beyond that. Worst case scenario is the client stops working altogether, at which point you would need to use another loader exe. I'm hoping it's nothing that bad, but I figured a heads-up was warranted.

Well worst case scenario (for nwn at least) is there are many other options to the server lists as noted in the "discontinued game spy support and alternatives to master server list" stickeys (of which I can't seem to post links to, but hey they are stickeyed at least.) NWNCX is quite a nice workaround, but at least if that stops being functional due to gamespy abandonment, there are other options for the master server list for NWN'ers

If I understand correctly how the "Clone" service(NWNCX) alternative works, the domain(internet address) is redirected from each players PC to an alternate website also created by community members to provide the servers listing service for the game. Game spy can disapear entirely and it would not affect the current alternative.

NWN master server and GameSpy listing servers don't work already, it can't get any worse from there. '> NWNX/NWNCX and other tools offer solutions, so I think there's nothing to worry about.

Good Stuff! They abandoned us, and the community came up with multiple workarounds, including this fantastic ingame one. Just another feather in NWN's cap, and a testament to the resilience of this game and the community.

Er...and?  I'm not saying not knowing about NWNX/NWNXC is a GOOD thing, but if they aren't using it right now then it STILL doesn't affect them if Gamespy shuts down.  Makes no difference to them whether Gamespy works or not.

they do work. apparently the system was made fail safe. nowadays, the DRM realizes that the master servers are no longer running and lets you play.
