GAMESPY CLOSES IN MAY 2014
« Reply #15 on: August 02, 2014, 07:07:38 am »

The master server tracker replacement is still online and functional.

For NWN2, it was necessary to release an update to the CE to disable the GameSpy chat integration so as to still allow the game to show the server browser UI.

It's possible that NWNCX for NWN1 might need to be updated similarly for the server browser integration.  When I made the changes to accommodate the latest GameSpy closures for NWN2, I sent a mail over to virusman with details of the adjustments I had to make to NWN2.

After editing the hosts file as mentioned I avoided the very lengthy timeout but am still getting the "bad nickname" problem and cannot see the list.  Looks like NWNCX will need to be updated.

Yes, it seems that NWNCX needs an update. Surprised that so few people are reporting this. I'm traveling right now, so it might take a few days..

I think a lot of people who use the Gamespy list may have NWN set up to directly connect to the server right away.

Works fine for me as well, Virusman.  No delay or 'bad nick' message.  Quick load to the available servers with player counts.

Chat still doesn't work, of course, and probably won't ever again, but you can open that tab at least and pine for the old days of the post-crash conversations that happened there.

Thank you kindly Sir. Please re-post when you have a final version as well. I will link the beta for now, but I, and I am sure many others, look forward to a final version. Your efforts are much appreciated by the NWN1 community Virusman.

Cheers, and much respect.

The words "Powered Buy Gamespy" are a liability now. They might as well just print "Assuring Obsolescence Since 1996" on the box instead.

Glu Mobile made their own bed. Let them sleep in it. Gamers will never trust the GS brand again. For the sake of a short term cash grab they threw away any future they might have had.

Good riddance afaic.
