You'll thank yourself for it.

Cool.  Off topic but no smokes for 1 month. Yeah for me.  Since we were talking about it in another thread WS and QSW.

Same here, one month! And I was smoking "Kool".
Actually, it's easier than I thought.
The most difficult part being... I realised I really like smoking.

Good luck.

Yep, that is your brain, trying to rationalize you getting some more...resist!

Be honest, there is NOTHING that one really "likes" about smoking!  What, the cough?  The smell?  The bad breath?  The cost?  The shortness of breath?

What one really means is "my brain liked how the nicotine worked on my body and is addicted to that".

Not that 100% straight, mister WebShaman. I surprisingly don't miss it that bad, chemically, or psychologically. I know such evil could be really twisted as you're saying, but I simply, surely... could smoke one good one at night after diner, with the truest pleasure.
People, tribes, have been smoking from the beginning of times, stuff which was better, cheaper, and more natural than the kind we're ought to buy today.
Why the new brand could kill me, I have no idea, but that's the only reason, in the very end, that keeps me from falling again.
Falling like in falling in love. As you said, it's brain against heart. And for once in my life I chose the first one.
And I'm fine with that.
Maybe I should start dreaming I'm smoking...

When I quit smoking I was certain the cigarette I missed most would be the one after I ate. Actually that one was pretty easy to give up.

Waiting for the bus, on the other hand...

On the other hand, I truly feel being twice more powerful than before. No kidding!
To the point I'm driving everyone around absolutely nuts!
It just amazes me how much energy that beautiful mistress was taking away from me all these years...

"Waiting for the bus, on the other hand..." ''
I sung that same sadest song many times already.

for me, it will be 4 years without a cigarette on groundhog day. I smoked 2+ packs a day for 18 years. After a year or so, you will forget you smoked. Then you will be free. I quit using Chantix, and I recommend it for anyone.

Of course it is possible - I was a 2 pack a day (marlboro) man for over 25 years - and I am now clean for 10 years going...

It is simply a matter of gathering your will...and resisting.

And do not underestimate your brain!  It is a cunning, sly instrument!  It WANTS a cig!  Don't give in!

I quited many times, that's so the easy part that I so enjoyed every single one of them, the best being when you relight a cigarette and smoke again.
Only, there is a difference today, I know why I wanna quite.
That, alone, could make it: Two kids. And not only that.
Allright, I'd remember that...
Yeap, today, I want out.

No, you tried to quit many times.

Quitting means to stop.  Permanently.

What it does not mean is - stop for a little while, then start back up again.

After the physical addiction resides, the psychological addiction remains.

Forever.

Only by resisting it when it comes around to tempt you, can you stay cig free.

Luckily for me, quitting damn near killed me, it was so bad and hard.  Every time I feel the urge to smoke a cig, I think on those withdrawl days...and get as far as possible from cigs.

That's funny, I thought of you, and all we've been talking about here, right in the streets of Paris when I was dreaming walking them with a cigarette, like I used to do.
That made the "resistance" quite easier, lighter, funnier almost.
You're my only external patch.
'works great.
I can see the good side of it already. First I feel like 10 years younger.
Just a bit heavier maybe.

I think we can all agree, Quitting is the hardest thing you will ever do. Even Web said it almost killed him. I'll say it again, Chantix is the way to go. You take the pill, and you keep smoking. You take the pill every day for 4-6 weeks, and you smoke the entire time, like normal. Sometime between 4 and 6 weeks, you will stop smoking, it will be when you decide your done. You will feel your done, and yes it will still have a bit of the anxiety, " the I need a smoke now or else feeling" but it won't be quite as bad as before. You'll be able to get the upper hand on it, for me, I popped a jolly rancher. A couple of months later, without smoking, that feeling lessens, the urges still come, but they are shorter and not as intense. After a Year, they are pretty much gone. Now if I could only give up the Jolly Ranchers, the truly nastiest habit ever.

               I love jolly ranchers...

Man, wish I could get them here in Germany!
