               Thanks for the update.

The NWN Master Authentication server is still unresponsive, however.

Hey Chris, thanks for the post!

No one in the NWN 1 or NWN 2 community can authenticate online and haven't been able to for around 3 months now, including me.

BTW, what does Atari have to do with returning the legacy forums?

Thanks for the information and any clarification you can provide!

Pure and utter speculation here; but perhaps the authentication servers being referred to are those for the premium modules? As it has been pointed out (and can be confirmed by anyone wanting to try them) they are certainly going out to the mothership and doing...er...something.

But if you pull your network connection to your machine or change the hosts file for nwmaster.bioware.com so it can’t reach it (to address the delay waiting for the Master Server auth to fail when joining multiplayer), when you try to load up a Premium Module it will sit there indefinitely trying to authenticate.

He's being pretty explicit about PW's and online authentication though.

Personally I think it is the auth. server that checks your CD-key he was talking about. Without that one we couldn't even be online right....(?)....

Then its the other one that keeps track of your gamespy username and password....and that one is still down...

Just speculating again of course...

Yes, but PW's in NWN1 do not need authentication unless you have it turned on in the .ini .  In NWN2 I understand it is more of a problem.

Key and password authentication is provided by the same server.  Neither query gets a response.  And even if the key response came back, the game server would still wait for the password verification.

Many thanks Chris - please keep us posted of progress and if possible specifics on which 'servers' are running and which are not.

Be well. Game on.

               Thanks so much for this.

I've recently installed the NWN disc+the expansion discs+the three premium modules from the Diamond
(or deluxe) edition. And it worked. (there was a glitch with Hordes of the Underdark disc in the Deluxe Edition, though. - luckily, I had an old expansion disc.... )

I haven't tested the premium modules yet, apart from that I tried to click on them, and they do seem to wrk. I also have some other Premium Modules thaat I've bought from the Bioware store who I loaded on to DVD, I think.. As soon as I find it.....I'll test these modules...

Thanks again '<img'>

Multiplayer authorization is the only authorization I cared about. This is great news. I sincerely hope you can recover the forum posts and tie them together with a good search function, too. There's tons of invaluable information in them, and all those pages of unique content will give bioware a huge boost in the search engines.
