As should be quite obvious this is just a troll (probably with a sock puppet).
Just let it go.

Why are you all hysterical? I'm very calm as you can see in my previous post even though someone was already trying to derail this topic. Just stating clearly, without emotion (unlike most of you). And indeed your emotions is the least I care of. Today I want to run my server and I want the MSA to protect it.
Security + the company's name engaged makes this automatically top priority, atleast it's how I see things, probably my extravagant side.

MSA was easilly defeated. It often caused servers to be careless and lax in their protections because too many Admins/Hosts assumed it offered actual protection, which it never did. Since the Master Server has been down, most servers have adopted other means of security and are today far, far more secure than MSA ever offered. As for your assertion that "Security + the company's name engaged makes this automatically top priority", most of us agree. You're just barking up the wrong tree. Atari owns the NWN franchise and not Bioware. Bioware was their contractor. Since Atari has severed ties with them, its up to Atari to provide for a Master Server and/or anything else you might expect in the way of support. Bioware actually already provided support and the MS well past their contractual obligations.

PS - Good luck complaining to Atari.

No one is stopping you from running a server except you.
Bio Ware will eventualy fix the issue, However it will be awhile. This has been posted by an actual BioWare Employee.
The NWN Community, has, for those like you who need the protection, added workarounds, that do work. Why not try using what they offer, and be greatful.
your extravagant side, could benifit from some common sense. You just made your log in here. You do not post a link to your server. You start off demanding action from Bio-Ware, Atari, and EA, when you just got here. You obviously did not bother to read any of the other topics on this very issue, or care to see that a fix was indeed offered from the community. And you continue to demand, after tthe community has said, it won't happen till it happens. Your not going to get what you want, either accept it, or move on. The choice is yours. To those in th ecommunity that are answering/feeding him, time to stop, and ignore them. We answered them, they can choose to accept it, or not. Continueing the arguement does nothing.

In regards to oldschool, i own NWN1 since about 8 years.

Also, the guy a bit more above who thinks i'm trolling, you are so wrong you won't believe it.

Hmm... I must have missed the bit where we all agreed to pull out our yard sticks and scales to see how our ejohnsons measure up against one another.

That said, I doubt if there are many still around in this Community that have been involved with NWN in one way or another longer than I have, but that really doesn't mean (nor count for...) anything.

MSA is down and has been down.  It will either come back at some point or it won't.  Either play on-line and enjoy yourself, or don't.  Only you can decide that for yourself.  Only you will be impacted by your decision, regardless of what it is.

And yeah, it does seem strange that "two" of you register new accounts on the same day and have as your first forrays into the forum, decide to moan/cry/discombobulate over the same issue (and nothing else).

Someone above said something about oldschools, that's what i was refering to. But as you said it is not important at all.

Of course it does seem strange. I had a account on the old forums and never needed to post here on this newer forum since then. If the old forum is still arround then you will find a few posts of Himmelweiss there as well. Not many, but still, i was there.

I play online, i'm just not happy how things are right now, you have to accept my opinion as i do yours.

I just say the MSA has to be there, expecially since they are still selling the game. It doesn't matter for how much you can get it, fact is the game is still being marketed.

now i declare war upon you. it is neverwinternights in 2012 mate... you are just ignoring the fact it is indeed about business for atari! bioware did what they could. ask us cc makers why something havent been done huh?

for you 2 i create a special trollmodel!

a m. bachmann vs g. beck model?

It is funny how people like you call someone a "troll" only because he was expressing his opinions.
It is the costumers right to be angry about something that obviously doesn't work as intended.

I payd for NWN1 three times, i have 2 diamond editions and one normal edition.
If you call such people a troll, then who are you? '<img'>

Better to simply ignore the trolls. Isn't it obvious that they offer nothing but noise? Given no attention they'll either desist or try harder. If they try harder, it will be easy to get them banned from the forum.

Simple.

What are you talking about exactly? Look at your posts Hensua, not a single word concerning NWN. And you pretend that I am a troll? And what are you offering to us here but topic derail? You are the nuisance here. You say : don't you see they bring nothing but noise, I think that you have to go and read all over again my interventions wich are very clear , and If you don't see then read once more, and then again if you pretend that you don't see then you are the troll here and should indeed be removed asap. If you read carefully with your little brain you'll get that, beside a clear analysis wich is the begining of a good cure, I'm not the one to offer something here, I am the one who ask for help, and that help is certainly not comming from your hands nor from others that provided workarounds that are weak and ugly in all terms and will never replace the msa. You can't even make sense it's incredible. And what's your point in the end of this? Don't you see that a the maximum of my intervention the results if any will all be for your own good? There is nothing I said that goes against your interest here, unless you're not worried about nwn in wich case you shouldn't be here, because i've never seen u talk about this game at all.

I'm sure you don't even get that the weak workaround that is stickied by a bioware staff, wich is nothing but a pretention of a fix, slow down the coming back of the MSA. I prefer that there is nothing at all and the crisis pushed to its limits so a quick fix would have been provided. Those workarounds looks like cream that cover slashing edges, one day or another someone will cut himself with them, because the problem remains as is.

What would Blizzard say if this was occuring on their Diablo II online game? it's older than NWN and still running without a single problem. It would be interesting also to know what the Atari/Bioware CEO thinks about this knowing all the details of this problem, because it really looks like a joke and put some dirt on their name.

ps :When you guys post a topic, post a nwn script, post anything, please tag all your work to save end-user's time as full of flaws, messy, unprofessional, weak, dangerous, security breach inside... do that even for random thoughts. thanks

Ok this seems to have degenerated into a "bash EA" thread. If this keeps up, this will be closed.

3 things:

1 - EA didn't make NwN. BioWare developed it and Atari published it. Why EA is now somehow at fault is completely off topic. BioWare is fixing these issues as best we can. No, this is not a priority, but we continue to work on it and will until it is fixed as best we can. Compared to SWTOR or Mass Effect or whatever MANY companies would have just abandoned this. It is going on a decade since this we released and it would have been MUCH easier to just say "contact Atari. They are the publisher. It is their responsibility to the NwN fans." However, BioWare cares about our fans and we will not abandon them. If you do not feel this is being resolved fast enough, you are welcome to go to Atari and see what help you can get there while we continue to work on things.

2 - You can authenticate copies of NwN and have been able to for months now. If you cannot, please contact Atari customer support.

3 - We are still working on oustanding problems and when we have information we will let you know.

''

has everything a troll needs to know on how to deal with the master server problem. Please try, to understand what was posted, and focus on doing what is suggested for maximum probability that it will get fixed. If you do not mind that it is down, and are fine with the community work a round, Like I am, then continue to be possitive about the nice jesture of keeping us in the loop. Thank you Chris, for doing that. Thank you Funky, for making the work a round that does work, And thanks to the community for dealling with the issue without becomming buttheads.
