"Castles in the sky" is a good description of module-building, isn't it?  Personally, this always makes me think of NWN.  But, then again, of course it would.  ;-)

When I'm trying to get a piece of custom content working right, this song always comes into my mind about the third time I have to redo everything!

Wow, thanks for introducing me to some old time radio, um, Old Time Radio.  Lee Dorsey is awesome!  I do feel a bit like I'm working in a coal mine when I'm trying to rebuild something I lost due to HDD failure...

Hmmm... castle in the sky is a bit too techno for me (not sure what the current buzzword is for that sort of music).

While the Isle of Neverwinter was an excellent find Estelindis...  I love the voice of whomever sang that one and it is a nice semi-storyline type of song.

Working in the coal mine is a favorite of mine from my much younger days.

I never seem to listen to most games nowadays, and typically have my speakers turned off.  First time through a game, I will enable them, but seldom do I find that I will continue to listen past the first play through.

I used to listen to Michael Hedges when working on game art. For years I tried to play like him (I can play a number of instruments ncluding guitar), but just can't pull it off. I stll love his music and heard that one of the lead environmental artists on Oblivian listened to his music while working on that game.

Like Bannor, I also dislike almost all music in a CRPG. I turn the music off in NWN. In building with NWN, I also shy away from music as I think it detracts from the ambient sounds which I put a great deal of effort getting "just right". That said... there is a Macedonian group called Anastasia which mixes Jazz, macedonian folk, jewish klezmer music etc... with electronica/synthesizers/digital effects that I love. They produced a sound track for a movie in the 90's called Before The Rain. I think it is perfect for the feel I wanted for my Arnheim setting in NWN. I am also fascinated by the Balkans. Never had a chance to travel there.

My favorite track from the sound track

This is how conversations tend to go down when people discover I still mod NWN.

Today I was thinking that the Good, Bad and Ugly theme would go well with one of six's obscure tilesets, barren lands.

The Ecstasy of Gold?  The Metallica symphonic version is very inspiring :-) As is the second track, The Call of Ktulu :-)
(Edit: I should say "The S.F. Symphony version performed as warm up for Metallica on their S&M CD is very inspiring ;-)

My tastes in music are very... eclectic :-P
Generally for gaming, I prefer instumentals. For creating I prefer Helen Jane Long or Ludovico Einaudi

As far as Castle In The Sky goes, The original Laputa has heavily influenced several aspects of Amethyst :-)
