NWVault Reviewer's Guild Needs You!
« on: September 04, 2011, 11:09:46 pm »

You may have noticed our sticky announcement on the Vault some time back where we explained that we were clearing out our NWN1 & 2 module review Pending Lists.

At this time we have no active Reviewer's, and only the odd mini review is being released. The Review Guild is seriously lacking in active (as in able to write reviews) members. We've been around since 2002 and in that time we have published around 500 module reviews. Since 2005 we've fluctuated between one active reviewer to 7, but most of the time the guild have functioned with only 1-3 people - hence our ever increasing work load on the pending lists and our need to reduce that load recently this year.

If anyone is interested in joining the Review Guild as an active Reviewer, then please follow the links below.

Without wanting to put anyone off, please be aware that writing a review of a module is time consuming. We have review guidelines that must be adhered to, and vigorous peer review that takes place before a review is approved for publishing. We also have great members who are always happy to help and ease the way for new Reviewer's. The whole process can be a lot of fun, but does require dedication as well.

I am aware that NWN1 is an old game and she is in her last bloom. But there are still people out there creating, as well as tons of great modules that have never been reviewed. I would like to see our Guild doors remaining opening for as long as NWN1 & NWN2 has a community. We would welcome new members and sincerely hope that you will help to support us in our desire to contribute, through reviews, and give back to this wonderful game, authors and community.

Time building is more important to me than reviewing, unfortunately to the players, downloading is more important than voting, hence less than 5% of the people actually return to even comment and even less than 3% actually vote, that's sad..

Reviews are pointless if you guys are ultra selective in what you review...

I have uploaded more than 8 modules & have never once gotten a review, I guess all my work sucked huh?

Either way, the nwvault.ign.com is a fading glory, unfortunately, add to that the issues the server is having and I suspect others will need to post megaupload links to get their content out to the community, sadly enough...

You only submitted one work for review (1.69 character creator) and then you pulled it from the vault in a tantrum because you didn't get enough downloads or votes. (I was actually in the process of reviewing it when you pulled it.)
........................................................

To reiterate Queensilverwing's invite to new reviewers.

There is still quality work being submitted and many modules that already have been submitted which deserve a review. We need more fair minded reviewers who can work within the review system.

With no reward except the respect of your peers and the knowledge of a job well done..... and quite a bit of work involved..,  the only thing we can promise is you'll have a lot of fun doing it *grin*
