D&D Neverwinter Nights The Complete Collection
« on: August 27, 2011, 03:47:32 am »

I just found a pre-order for D&D Neverwinter Nights the Complete Collection on Gamestop's site. I can't find any other information anywhere for this title. http://www.gamestop....ollection/92959 . Maybe Atari is finally releasing all of the Premium modules on one disk including Wyvern Crown Of Cormyr, Infinite Dungeons and Pirates Of The Sword Coast. I hope so because I wasn't able to purchase these three before Bioware quit selling them. Maybe someone else here can find out what this package includes.

There is also a pre-order for Dungeons & Dragon's classic Anthology by Atari. www.gamestop.com/pc/games/dungeons-dragons-classic-anthology/92953 . Atari must be releasing a bunch of old D&D titles.

The installers are still available in Bioware's own site: http://social.biowar...index/4746466/1

And now the verification is simply allowing everyone to use the premium modules regardless of having actually bought them or not.

I have the installers and I read that the authentication servers are down. Maybe that is the reason Atari is possibly trying to sell the Premium modules at retail. They probably figure they might as well try to get some money for them.

Maybe they should hold off while they spend 18 months developing a DRM 'solution' which they remove a few weeks after finally releasing the product.

Or has that already been tried as an avenue to success?

any new versions of the game for sale are a benefit by adding new players.  It's likely though that this is just Diamond re-packaged

Judging by the price of $29.99 I'd supect this is probably "Neverwinter Nights Ultimate", the package that includes both NWN and NWN2 with all expansions. I guess that's what they'd mean with "complete collection"; I doubt they'd consider the Premium modules part of it.

LMAO

Don't get me started. That MoW debacle is what got me banned from the previous boards. What a clown show that was.

Ugh. I'm still pissed about MoW. NWN2 had so much promise and Atari just pissed away the last year and a half of it's development cycle.

^ Now I will agree with that!

NWN2 has soooo much potential under the hood, it ain't funny!  It is a cryin' shame that enough resources were simply not made available to create it as the Devs at Obsidian wanted it to be.

Well, we as outside observers will never know how much landed on the cutting room floor.  And that probably is a good thing.

I do know that the 'port function for NWN mods to NWN2 landed there...and who knows what else!  Ridable horses got axed as well.  Oh, and the console 'port.  Which most likely was responsible for the (//&%&$%$ format that NWN2 was created in (and those darned tools!  GRRRR!), instead of following NWN's example (linux and Mac support).

The MoW debacle was truly a farce!  It ranks right up there with Duke Nukem' Forever I think...especially when one considers just what the DRM caused in sales and mayhem.  A better example of falling on your own sword I have never witnessed!

It is the pinnacle of DRM folly and a shining example of what is wrong with DRM.

Sadly, NWN2 will never shine.  The last patch will remain mothballed for all eternity.  The rough diamond will never be polished.

It could have been so much more.

Yeah this looks like a gimmick or something that didn't fall through for Bioware.

It could be that they need to hire some networking & security experts to fix the issues.
(Either way, everyone will wait till they get the Authentication Thing fixed, been 2 months now.)

Maybe this could be a productive outlet for some of the energy put forth in the other threads. That is, maybe it would light a fire under someone's butt if there were a few prominent posts at that link - in polite and reasonable tones - noting that LAN and online play with that release is only possible after waiting for a master server connection that times out with an error that some features are unavailable because the master server isn't working.

What I am talking about are not angry diatribes (correct or not) about the evils of EA or Atari, but posts from a "wary consumer" standpoint to the effect that

I remember NWN as a fantastic game and spent many hours on online persistant worlds and playing the numerous free multiplayer modules in games with friends. But, googling around, I've read that NWN online play and LAN games are broken because the 'Master Server' or something has gone down. Before I put down any Pre-order money for a game that may not be working right anymore, can Atari assure us that we won't be getting 'Could not connect to Master Server' errors?

Since Atari is obviously hoping to make a few bucks off of this packaged re-release of the games, they may be motivated to see that problems that players already know about are dealt with before it affects sales.

I found out more details. Apparently, it includes all of Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 except the premium modules of course. I guess I'm not surprised. 'Posted

Here are the details of the Dungeons & Dragons classic Anthology. Pretty good price if you don't have these old games.

In the first stickied top thread at this forum, Chris Priestly says that the activation both for the game and the expansions as well as the persistent worlds now work and function again. It is created about 27 days ago (from this day which is the 23rd of October 2011).  He also says that Bioware and Atari are working together with others to make sure that the legacy forums will come back at one point - although he doesn't say when this will be.

It is too bad that the NWN1 game+expansions do not include the Premium Modules. Sadly, I don't think you can buy them at all. Luckily you can buy NWN Diamond Edition on GOG for US dollars 9.99...

But as already stated earlier, you can still download all the premium modules and play them without any restrictions, wether you ever bought them or not. The module does some kind of check online and then starts. Before the outage of the master server, I could not play PotSC, now I can. When you try to start the module without any online connection, then it does not start up, so there is happening something.
