Looking for an assassin build
« Reply #75 on: August 15, 2011, 11:35:17 pm »

Q: Does this assassin have to have the Assassin PrC attacked? Sorry if that has been answered, but did not see it.

I adore the Rogue class; have never used the Assassin class at all, and contend that a Rogue combo could be what some might like. Ftr/ Rog; Rgr/ Rog; Wiz/ Rog etc could all make excellent killers.

Gosh. Now I am ashamed. How could I be such a fool do not agree with your highest truth?

You did well to bar "your" since others supported that point as well, not to mention basic logic... you know, it goes together with it being a truism...

Do you know who are you?

A fool in search for truth? (I wonder whether you will get the tarot reference)

Just an egomaniac that can't withstand anyone who do not agree with him.

I stand plenty of people not agreeing with me and I also bow to their reasoning when sound. What I can't stand is purpouseful, stubborn and arrogant stupidity, the kind of which you and your pal keep showing off. Did you get the difference between a fix and a modification of a wad game feature by now btw? I'm afraid not. And that's exactly the kind of things I am talking about.

Another thing I can't stand is Lowlander insulting Shia just for adding her voice of support to a position which I can call mine; where I'm a short tempered ill mouthed goat who can get across pretty bluntly but always truly (especially when logical reasoning is shamefully forgotten by some posters), she is a much nicer being and a much more patient one not deserving such treatment.

And I dont agree with you almost in everything.

My nights will be troubled from now on. I shall sleep no more... oh no wait, I have no consideration of your reasoning up until now so I guess I'll keep on sleeping tight as always.

Now, instead of barking up, start bringing facts to the table. Like a demonstration that a modification to a wad game feature is a fix... I won't be holding my breath, evidenly (and besides it's oh so much off topic here).

So, back to Assassins! ':bandit:'

That is an intelligent question to make; no need to get stuck in "labels" among which class names. There's a nice FTR 10/Bard 3/SD 25 STR based build by the Dwarflord which is de facto an assassin type of character for example: The Twilight Queen.

As said, almost anything works in the OC(s). And as said, if you don' tmean the OC(s) but some other module, please specifi the environment.

That said, and assuming (aye I know what they say about assumptions) you are looking for an assassin type build, those suggested in this thread are good ones.

The Rogue/Ftr/SD the OP reposted (and that Lowlander improved upon) is good from the ground up, as is the FTR/Monk/Assn I posted earlier and, lemme say, even more so the Wiz/Rng/Assn MMM (multiclass melee mage) Web brought up. And so are many other builds like Rang/SD/Assn and whatnot.

If instead you mean any kind of build, and trying to keep present your long hiatus (sp?), mmmh, Ftr/Rogue/CoT (or more simply Ftr/Rogue) STR based always works fine. I mean, you can't go wrong with it; straight up fighter with added rogue versatility (classed tumble, traps, umd among the rest and then SAs and possibly stealth skills) and (with CoT) enhanced saves.

Yip, RPing an assassin does not neccessarily mean using assasssssin (how do you stop spelling this word, it's worse than bananana! *grin* ) , but I always feel sorry for the class. Needs more SP , spell book etc etc *grin*  ultimately rogue is always going to be stronger, but I like to play different classes and experience how to make them work, given their limitations, and a high lvl assassin's imp invis, darkness and DA DC is a joy to play.

Have fun '<img'>

Not to mention open up one of meanest characters in the D&D universe...  Ranger/Assassin/RDD with BoE and Dev Crit and High Dex...  Can we say walking destruction of doom.  I mean poor enemies won't ever stand a chance against something that can destroy them without a sneak or crit attack 'Posted.

Sorry was day dreaming again 'Posted.

Guys I can't tell ya much I appreciate all the vast wisdom you've given me. I really love NWN and find it to be alot funner than the NWN2. Honestly Grizzled_Dwarflord really inspired me, initially, with his assassin builds cause he was one of the first real assassin fans that was able to make them powerful. I just didn't really like the whole STR concept. Now to be fair, I haven't tried his STR builds yet. Maybe I should instead of assuming I won't like it. I definitely notice that with the rogue/ftr/sd builds, they are easier to level mainly cause they loads of skill points which is nice. A nice assassin build I came across that really looks pretty sweet is this:

http://home.comcast....uild295415.html

I really like how this guy built this. What do you guys think? It is an elf though. Wouldn't there be an XP penalty here?

I didn't look at the build in question, but if there are two or more base class involve neither are Wizard class then an experience penalty will be added to any lvl gain in a class that is above or below the highest base class by more than 1 lvl. For example: 1 fighter/3 rogue/ 1 cleric would recieve a penalty if you gain another lvl of rogue but none if gaining lvls with fighter or cleric (at least what I know about it).

Is for the main history of the NWN campaign without exp or mods

@Nithium.... If your looking to experience the most out of Original Campaign not SoU/HotU, your better off going with a single class build. classes that are good at being pure are Wizards, Clerics, Rogues, Sorcerers, Bards, Rangers, and Paladins are very strong throughout the OC. If you was looking for something for SoU/HotU then you would want something that would get you to lvl 25 but be playable up to lvl 25. With possible builds I would concider the Fighter/Bard/RDD build to be good choice as well Fighter/Rogue/SD. Of course if your looking to roleplay in the process I would also turn your attention toward a Druid/Shapeshifter Build. Of course it depends how far you plan on going what game content you have available.  And also do you have a preference for class choices?

wiz/ass as sin ftw *grin*

Oooohhh...that rhymes!

The PRC has done this with the Assassin (their own Spellbook, that one can memorize spells from, btw), as well as for the Blackguard (and even redid the Sorcerer as well!)  As a result, with the PRC, one CAN meet Arcane spellcaster requirements with the Assassin.

So one can do a Ranger/Ass as sin/RDD, for example.

Or qualify for PM!

And with the Ultimate Ranger class...wooohoooo!

*nods*
