Hak and override
« on: August 05, 2011, 01:48:33 pm »

I'm editing 2da of classes, feats, abilities and spells to make a pw about game of thrones (book series of a song of ice and fire of G.Martin).

My question is:
is there a way to see and have the edited classes and feats, in multiplayer, from the first level? I've made it with a hak but at the first level you see the normal classes. Only from the second level you can see edited classes. Can i do it with the override? If yes, can i use hak and override together with the same material?

               Quick answer is no.

Although its possible to workaround it via subrace field. I did Ninja class like this so I set it up using nwnx_funcs so when character choose rogue and his subrace is "Ninja" then his class is changed after he logs in to the ninja. That however require NWNX and start game via server.

Second solution could be a program that would start an module with custom dialog.tlk (its possible to do also via hex editing nwmain.exe) where you could rename the Rogue for Ninja itself if of course you dont need base classes anymore.

ElgarL worked on new NWN client that would allowed it but it seems he is gone now and he didnt finished it.

Look into "pre-loading" of the required haks and TLK. It should work. There was a topic on the old Bioware Forums covering this, but I can't currently run it down.
