Just realised that The Way Back machine seems to have fixed its version of the ol' NWN website!!!

It is a lot better. At least the linkbuttons are in the right place and so on.

I even did a search in the scripting forum but I was hoping for too much lol...

Here is the link if you don't have it:

Old NWN Bioware homepage with forums on the Way Back Machine

Not quite fixed, many of the topics while listed, the links don't work, IE, go to custom content, pick a sub topic, and click on that, and you end up with an add for EA.  But the main thing is having the patches back where you can more easily find them.

               Busy day today with this.

Used the way back machine to delve into the old site and forum, and grabbed links from this forum and the Vault.

Added links or information for NWNCQ, NWNX, NWShader, the old fan site kit downloads, DM client info and faq, console commands, dedicated server, scripting tools and resources list, builder resources list, and features/tips from the "Lesser known but helpful features of the toolset" thread from the old forums.

By the gods, there is a lot of information in the old forum, even just in the stickied topics.

.mod files need to be placed into your NWN/modules folder - these are the actual single-player module (adventure) files

.hak files need to be placed into your NWN/hak folder - these contain all sorts of new content for a module or server

I'd like to change that to something like:

.mod files need to be placed into your NWN/modules folder - these are the actual adventure (or "map"/"world") files

.hak files need to be placed into your NWN/hak folder - these contain all sorts of extra/custom content for a module or server

Perhaps also a little headline above thoose describing that theese are common abreviations in the NWN. It is all too common to see new players coming asking for "mods"...which is what we call "HAK's"....and then also explain that that is not Hack's..... which is something completely different.

By the way....do you have something explaining how to play online from the same house/connection. To play NWN from two computers you naturally first need two sets of the game (two CD-keys) ...then also the ini-file on at least one of the computers have to be changed to be assigned a different outbound port....it is all too common to see players trying to do this without doing the ini-file change...resulting in problems both for them and the server they're playing at....

Did some minor updating based on SuperFly_2000's post.  Anyone have a link to the .ini edits needed for LAN/shared connection play?

Thanks for the promotion, folks!  I've seen the site come up a little more often when searching for NWN information.

The best I can find is this from the wikia.   http://nwn.wikia.com...i#.5BProfile.5D

and a quote from the readme that came with the game.

Outgoing packets:
Source port: 5120-5129
Destination port: 5121-5300

Incoming packets:
Source port: 5121-5300
Destination port: 5120-5129

On the Game Client side, you can select what port your client uses. Go to
your nwnplayer.ini file in your NWN Client Beta install directory. Find the
following section:

[Profile]
Client Port=5120

Change this number if you need to force Neverwinter Nights to connect as a
client on a different port.

Thanks, Lightfoot8.  That .ini filename and line are exactly what I needed.

Bumping this up, still looking for community input and contributions.  Screenshots still welcome, and direct links/ports of invaluable information for players, builders, DMs, and content makers.  I've recently added some things to the custom content makers section, and I'm getting ready to add a page about Shadooow's unofficial 1.70 patch (once he settles on a place to host the files).

Screenshots Wanted:
shots from various persistent worlds
shots from various community-made modules
shots from the original campaigns (NWN, SoU, and HotU)
shots from the toolset

800x600 or larger please
original .tga or other uncompressed format is best (no jpgs if possible)
- - - I can open .rar, .7z, and .zip files for those wondering
name/handle of screenshot taker
name of module or PW it's taken from
name of any visual overrides used (such as gui changes)
emailed to: builder@neverwinternights.info

I've been getting some great screenshots from HipMaestro from the original campaigns and have posted a few on the site.  Still looking for a few from various PWs and single-player modules to help showcase what can be done with this game.

I now consider the site fully functional and useful (aka, "complete").  Additional content is always good though, so if there's something informative or just plain handy for players, builders, DMs, or content makers, please post a link to it in this thread so that it can get added.

Thanks to those out there that have been sharing links to the site.  I've noticed it go up a tiny bit in the search engines.  Very handy when new or potential players can easily find it.

I know I've been linking to it on Facebook, my PW's main webpage, a couple of times on Twitter, and on the gog.com forum for NWN.  I'm also going to be talking a little bit about the site in an upcoming NWN Podcast interview (recording in a couple of days).  Promo, promo, promo. '<img'>

Superfly_2000: Any chance of changing the title of this thread to something like "www.neverwinternights.info - NWN Community Site" and remove the "(but not yet completed)" from the first post?  Chances are the thread won't get stickied, but anytime it get's bumped up it'll make it more descriptive for potential/new community members.

Yay for the new website being complete! '<img'>

One thing I remember from the old bioware site that I really liked was the collection of character build templates. I tend to usually stick to single-class characters, but looking at the "epic" builds allowed me to experiment with different class combinations without worrying about dying... more than normal, anyway. '<img'>

Could something like that be incorporated into the new website, maybe on a rotating basis or something?

Jthesunshinegirl, you might want to visit the new Epic Character Builder's Guild boards to find builds and discussions. Also, the builds and discussions from the Bioware guild boards are on the Epic Character Search Engine.
