Hi! I'll be buying NWN Diamond in the very near future and I could use some advice if you'd be so kind.

I want to buy it here www.impulsedriven.com/nwn but I'm wondering, will mods work well with that version? Or should I buy from somewhere else like www.gog.com/en/gamecard/neverwinter_nights_diamond_edition that doesn't have a client? I especially noticed that the PRC has a .exe installer, will that work with the Impulse version?

One of the things I loved the most about NWN2 was all the customization, I looked at the PRC website for NWN and it looks amazing, will it work with the Impulse version of the game? Is it okay to use the PRC on my first ever playthrough of the game or will it break something for me?

I also saw the CEP, is there any point to installing that when I will just be playing singleplayer? I'm a little confused as to what exactly is in it to be completely honest '<img'> However I saw it has races in it which is awesome. And likewise is it a bad thing to use the CEP on my first playthrough?

Any and all information you can help me with would be extremely appreciated! I'm really looking forward to playing this seemingly sweet game. Thank you!

The CEP and the PRC are HAKs or hak packs - collections of data (models for monsters, placeable objects and the like mostly) that must be added to the module you play (e.g. used to build the module using the HAK's models) or you will not see anything of these HAKs when you play a module (not built using them). In other words, these are contents that _some_ builders use to create modules, but they were not used in the OC (Original Campaign) and many other modules. If a module does use a HAK, you must have the HAK to play that module. Hope that helps.

I would recommend gog.com myself, just on personal experience.

Be well. Game on.

Oh wow really? It's completely different from NWN2 then, hakpacks for NWN2 works for most of the modules I had installed out of the "box" including the OC and expansions. That's a bummer, so the PRC doesn't work for any of the official campaigns? '<img'>

Thanks for the information though! Very much appreciated '<img'>

The only reason I'm still playing NWN with no expansions after all these years, is because I only got 8g monthly, and I need to share it with people. I simply don't have enough download to buy diamond online

Ruben there are many modules and servers that you can play which use CEP and PRC. Just not the vanilla campaign made by bioware. And welcome to NWN1 '<img'>

If you're primarily interested in PRC for the options to play other classes and races, I think you could probably add the PRC haks to the OC and then play thru it taking advantage of those.  You might need to create your initial PC using a PRC builder mod then use that new PC when you launch the OC.  I'm not that familiar with PRC, but I'm sure others can provide more details, as some of the PRC team frequent these forums.

CEP is quite popular as it adds a lot of new options for builder and many PWs use it as a base. However, that material would only show up if the mod was built with the hak, which the OC wasn't. Thus, adding CEP to the OC would be rather pointless, as you wouldn't see any difference in the mod.

The best way to get the PRC into the OC is to add it directly. Make a copy of your campaign modules and store them somewhere safe. Change the extension to .mod and temporarily drop them in the modules folder, edit them - adding the PRC, then save and change the extension back and move back to their home folder.

There are more thorough instructions somewhere on how to add both the PRC and CEP to the main campaigns. I had added CEP v1x to the OC years ago, but never tried it with CEP 2.0. Likewise, I did have an earlier version of PRC working with them as well.
