Old bioware forums closed?

Well, it's not like we weren't warned. We were. I'm not gonna get my briefs all in a bunch over it. It's only been a couple of days, anyway. I'm wonderin' if maybe they're in the process of moving the old forums somewhere else, and we may have access to them again in the future. Time will tell. Meantime, we can still play NWN whenever we want to. ;^)

Words shouldn't be killed. All along the human history, letters, personal correspondance have been saved and often published later on.
When one kills such a library of billions of words in one click, he is using a power he doesn't have the clearance for.
I don't live in the past and barely ever look back. Because I know some people do. We cannot kill our past. It's awfully pretentious.
I'm thinking today about that guy who pressed that button and send to limbo people thoughts.
I don't belong to such a world that kills its memory.
Only to make more room for its emptiness.

               @Elhana

Where do you come off criticizing everyone for nothing?
After reading posts up to the time "Chris" posted his rather "No common sens what so ever" post, well after
reading your posts, I'm left to wonder... "Has this person even read these posts I read?"

And from where I stand, you are the one that seemed to attempt to get a rise out of poeple here.
Shame on you! ':police:'

And no you're not right one bit neither are anyone that agree with your vile posts.

I knew it was coming, not that it's right (because it's not), not because it makes business sense (because it doesn't).
No, I knew it was coming because they said it was and because they simply can and didn't expect any better from
them.

Anyhow, no matter, we'll manage '<img'>

Wake up people, get a whiff of the coffee.  It's all related to account security:

Yes; shame on me for expecting this NWN1 community might be more mature than others. Instead, it seems that some expect a lot more than what is given. And I am not criticizing everyone; just those that fit the elistist glass slipper.

The fact that I am not currently playing / replaying any classic Bioware games doesn't mean I will not be doing so again.  I have maintained some older PC systems, and stored them carefully, that I do get back out occasionally and use for the matching age of an old game that is tickling my memories.

So I was concerned about losing those resources, but just not EXCITED about the situation, like some of those in this thread seemed to have been.  I'm happy that it wasn't the cacophanous attack of a grand piano . .

*Gack*...this is a disaster. Not only that the forums are totally gone now but mostly because NWN1 doesn't have a site anymore. That site held invaluable information to new users about what the game was like, how to play it, how to host a server, links, downloads....it is all gone....and I am not even talking about the forums....which held a lot of info on its own.

Now I am feeling really dumb I didn't backup their site somewhere on my computer. I had no idea the whole site would dissapear though. I thought at most the forums but still thought that they would be left in that locked state.

Now all the information about NWN1 that is still on Biowares homepage is just a few line about the game.

This is not good....

The forum content and still some more seems to be "saved" by Old Time Radio's download mentioned in a nearby thread.

Still....THE SITE!?!?!?!

The Site content may be available for you...
But myself, being one of the people who received the e-mail about account data being stolen, have found ourselves being locked out of bioware forums, out of our old accounts.

Getting access to our old cdKeys is impossible without going to support.
And even then...
What if the hacker took those cdKeys with him?
Is Bioware going to reimburse us for the theft of our CDKeys?

I'm hoping there's a way to recover the information from guild forums. Our Bastions of War guild was on the top of the Most Active Guild list for years, and we had thousands of posts archived from the past 8 years. Our guild was still very active, and I was totally unaware of this change until it happened. Is there any way to get a copy of our forum data?

Thanks for the heads up! This would also explain Chris Priestley's irritated reaction (not excuse it, but make it more understandable), seeing that his company was already under attack - and often these hackers self-righteously proclaim they're doing it to harm the "evil" companies that "had it coming" to them.

Naturally all this stirs up strong emotions but emotions and posting on the internet seldom go together very well and most of the times only make things worse. So I'd humbly suggest to just forgive and forget what has been said and concentrate on the situation at hand with a clear head and no hard feelings.

What will hackers with the maturity of 12-year olds do with your lunky old CD-keys anyway?
