Wow...troll much?

I think the fact that you feel you can admonish us like a parent is frightening sad tbh. Maybe you should have worded it better or left it alone since it seems you feel that you are so far above on a pedestal that we mere mortals must strive to be like you, Elhanan.

I mean after all you choose a name that means elite fighter from the Bible and in your rightous wrath we all should cower and get a life like you? Cmon David...we are not the Goliath you are seeking to strike down. (And choosing a name that means fighting for the little guy you could at least honor the name correctly, sheesh.)

If you wish to admonish someone then maybe start with yourself as I assure you that you too put you pants on just like the rest of us "losers without a life playing a game" as you seem to imply.

The sad part is how the Forums have degenerated into an apparent nursery of screaming Muppet babies whining to get what they want, when they want it.

For those actually working to retreive info, you have my thanks.

For those that enjoy the same game I have; congrats!

For those that believe they are owed? Puh-lease.....

Maybe we do put our pants on in a sim fashion, but we seem to approach requesting help from others in very different manners.

Notifying customers of important changes is simply good manners and a wise PR gesture.  If you find yucks in having the rug pulled out from under you, that is fine and dandy just don't expect others to share the same casual attitude.  Isolationist attitudes are ALWAYS counter-productive but require much less cognitive thought than proactivity which is the reason the wait-and-see perspective has become so popular.  The corporate world just loves sheep and abhors those who may force them to alter their PR policies.

Personally, whatever PR policy EA adopts is no concern of mine since they have demonstrated that they have simply become a limited-service cookie cutter game vendor.

It is of interest to me though how any company, gaming or otherwise, can decide to pull the plug on support of its products because the business logistics point that way.  What made NWN so unique to me was that the entire community...players, developers and marketing staff all created a homogenous platform for D&Ders to enjoy.  Sadly, that attitude apparently gets absorbed by the economics (like just about everything else).

The persistent beauty of the forum is that all views can be equally stated and interpreted so at least that much hasn't changed.

As I recall, we were warned of such a day many, many moons ago when the change was made to these new Forums.

But those that want to believe in the whole Evil Empire corporate cookie machine type of thing, or believe that such a title will help speed results, perhaps the wool is over these sets of eyes; not us so-called sheep.

And as one that knows Bioware is aware of the possible issues, I am able leave it in their hands, and not in those that seem to have lost any sense of priority, propriety, and humor (ie; see aforementioned emoticon). I have seen my share of posts from apparent condecending entitled elitists on these new Forums, but did not expect such to come from the members of the old boards.

Perhaps some should look to the EULA's and remember who is entitled to what. And in the meantime, some demanding entitlements due to hours spent playing in a game should seek a life, starting first with a real clue.

You're wasting your time here... ehye_khandee needs your protection.

Wow, you do come out slinging flames - and at someone that didn't flame you. Sorry if you took the last line of my reply to your comment to be directed at you - it was directed at Chris and his reason for not addressing the OP. Just cause your mad at one person is no reason to leave the rest of us in the dark. Its bad business and really bad PR.

And I did not mean to direct my comments at you, either; just at those that seemingly believe they are merited anything for investing time playing a game.

Bioware is aware of the issues. They might be more pleasant in posting, and more willing to assist quickly if not labled, criticized, and seemingly ordered on how to perform their jobs.

So I was going to come here and post what is happeneing and what you can expect, but reading Bannor Bloodfisst post, and seeing how I am part of a terrible horrible company, I'm just going away now.

After all, that's what we do now, right?

Wow.  Unbelievable.  I did take a moment to report this post, if you are indeed a rep of the company; I hope you get the sack.

Thinking it is one thing ... posting it is quite another ...

Elhanan, I agree with you. I'm not scolding or 'parenting' anyone here, but I do have a right to my opinion on the matter. And that opinion is simply that I can see the person behind the name Chris Priestly, who has a real life filled with far more than simply being involved in a 9 year old game after all. Do you think NWN is on his mind as much as it might be on some of our minds? Why should it be?
My opinion is that rather than scolding or attacking the bearer of messages, the guy who IS coming here to tell us something, the guy who DOES care enough to bring the message -- instead of telling this person how bad, rude, uncaring, inconsiderate and unprofessional you think he is, how about thanking him for the message, even if we end up hating the message?  Is see quite a few posts above that all continue poking and slapping at the guy, all the while complaining he doesn't care. Sheesh.
We are not owed even these fora, you realize... this is extra, like so much Bioware has done for NWN's community, long after the fact of it being a bottom line consideration. Do not bite the hand that feeds you.
Just my opinion on the matter.

Occasionally backwards and inside out as well.  Usually I remember to pull up the zipper before I leave in the morning.

Fact is, this is the kind of behaviour that causes people to see Bioware as merely a gear of some giant evil corporation who shall remain unnamed. I don't believe for a minute that Chris meant any ill - but I do think that with all his experience, such a misstep is embarrassing to witness.

Chris Priestley is the one man liable to fill us in. So I think we should all show him plenty of respect. But as part of that respect, I think he deserves to know where he's made mistakes that might harm more than his own good name.

Edit: if I misspell Chris as Christ one more time...

Sorry Elahnan you are 100% wrong in this case.  You are a long time and respected poster but it is 100% understandable why people are upset at this and the lack of prior warning from BioWare and Chris's response.  There are so many down right whiners and trolls on the forums these days that should be banned and nothing happens.  LONG time loyal customers who have never really been a problem but have rather helped the community get upset at something they legitimatey should be mad at and they are getting blasted.

Get rid of the 1000 idiotic troll posters on all forums (especially DA2) and then come down on the NWN crowd who have kept that game going long long after it could have served it's life.

Chris is a great guy, by no means 'evil' Chris but in this case and in at least one other case he has to realize who some core long time members of the community are and treat them with more respect.  We have enough 100% ****s on this site that should be punted and they get away with a ton.  Core members beef a little bit and peiple come down on them.  Not at all fair.

@Chris: You have changed. You used to be better at hiding that second face of yours. <sarcasm>Thanks for the b&^%h slap, dude. Appreciate it.

@Elhanan: I stand in awe of your shining magnificence. Thank you, oh mighty leader of men!</sarcasm>

As some of you may already know I'm an SEO by profession, and I'm damn good at my job. My biggest client is at #1 for all of their top twenty short-tail keywords.

Well, from an SEO perspective this was a short sighted and stupid decision.

Not to be stirring the already stired pot.

Bioware told us many moons ago that these old forums would go. We were just lucky that they were left up as long as they were. I think many said that all the nitty gritty should be saved somewhere safe on those very forums right before the lockdown happen.

Many prepared for it while others didn't. But we must bare the blame for not backing up our threads and info. It sure would have been nice if the powers be could had saved those forums full of great info and moved them here. They didn't. So in hind sight. We should have made those posts (links and info) in here and we wouldn't be so sad or mad right now.

I'm defending Chris nor EA or Bioware. Just saying that we all knew this day would come but just didn't know when. We got too use to how long the site was up and now it's gone. So we need to take this new raw energy and rebuild. We of course can voice our concerns and or opinions but let's keep the peace and be helpful as much as we can.

No expert on the rules of Netiquette, but thought that emoticons often meant 'lighten up' on the tone of a post. Or does not Bioware have the same rights on their own Forums as the rest of us? CP seemingly came here to explain, and had to encounter yet another salvo of trout slaps from arm-chair developers.

And I will readily agree that you, Amethyst Dragon, Vulcano, and others have given long hours of labor without apparently seeking personal validation for their part in the community. But for those that seem to believe that because they choose to play with the Toolset or DM Client makes their hours worth more than the Players, then they missed a much needed wake-up call sometime ago.

Just because there are trolls elsewhere that may smell worse than the fragrance one gets used to in this realm does not mean it still is pleasant when encountering whinos. Work around both every day, and one may get testy, also.
