Official chatroom for NWN?

               I thought I saw a chatroom that was pretty well populated with general NWN people...both NWN1 and NWN2...

Can't find it now....was it  irc.nwn2source.net ?

But what channel....and is there a webchat login...?

I think it is good if we figure this out....

               Only need a web-chat login now...the one from NWVAULT does not seem to work....

....probably because it seems to try to connect to Neverwinterconnections server which is not used anymore....



Actually Mibbit can login to the chat....so there is kind of a webchat possibility already. I was just wondering if perhaps there was an "official" webchat login...?

               Well ya...to be frank...it is not only for me...I think it is important for all members of this community to know that there IS a chat....because the information about this is close to non-existing...at least in the NWN1 boards....(until now...)

               I edited the connection info now. 6667 is of course the port number....so there shouldn't be any "/" in between there. Instead I put ":". Try now.....

               If you're looking for what I think is probably the most active IRC community dealing with NWN1, connect to stratics.frws.com #avlis.

I don't say that to toot my own horn, and the nwn2cr guys will tell you I hang out in there semi-regularly, but NWN1 discussion outside developer and builder issues is rare. the stratics #avlis channel has 40-80 players, builders, and DMs hanging out in pretty much every timezone.

               That is a chat for a specific PW....and there are many such for NWN1...that are huge....including the one you recomended....


The question here was however to find a more "neutral ground" for all kind of NWN discussions and I have found it. The only reason that there are not so many NWN1 people on there is probably that they don't know about and hopefully this post will change that to some extent.

However, there ARE some NWN1 people there even though I agree that the chat is still more towards developing. People there are in no way restricted to that and as in any IRC chat there is talk about everything...even nothing important at all sometimes...


So...to summarize...thanks...but I really hope that some more NWN1 people find this place that I have found to chat now....which is the proper chat for all NWN related talk.

PS. Feel no worries that this chat is only for NWN2 people because of its name...because it isn't. This was a design decision made a long time ago by "the vault" when we all thought that NWN2 would take over totally...they even changed the name of their site...to the "NWN2 vault" even though they are still of course hosting all the NWN1 stuff there as well. DS.

PS 2. I do agree that it is cool to hang out in numerous NWN1 PW chatrooms as well and hence I regularly do that also...however...that was not the question in this thread.... DS 2.

               lol, no need to get all defensive mate. Maybe I'll see you in both channels! I hope the devs over there don't mind a few folks that have no interest in NWN2 or developing. '<img'>

If there are other active world channels, I'd like to see some of them posted here as well. In a community our size, there's no harm in a little crossstalk. Probably would do us all some good, as there seems to be lingering competitive animosity among several of the remaining worlds...

               Not being defensive just trying to be clear.

What I don't like is that you now again talk about that this channel should only be for NWN2 and its developers which it is not. This channel was made by the vault and it is for NWN in general....period.....that it has come to be populated more by NWN2 people and specifically developers does by all means not ban any other with NWN interest from there.

Now I AM being a little defensive actually...this is the second time you say things like that...that the channel is only for NWN2 people......when I am trying to get a broader audience to this channel....please....do not make posts that would make people doubtful....when there is no doubt really....

...and as I said...I AM also staying in different PW channels at the same time....so there is really no reason to take this further spool....you have presented the channel you suggested to be open to all NWN people and that is great....but do not try to diminish what the vaults chat channel is about and how it was intended to be used....

               The nwn2cr channel was not made by the NWNVault - it's run by GrinningFool, and as far as I can tell has no association with the vault at all. If you can point me somewhere that says differently I'd love to see.



I'd love to see more people in IRC, and more people in #nwn2cr, but let's be clear about what we're discussing here. Having someone with ops in the channel post in this thread would be nice...

               Are you so sure about that? Well....if you require me to show evidence of the opposite I should ask the same then....

When I have a definitive that this chat has nothing to do with the vault I will remove that text about the connection with the vault....if it now matters so much....

Besides...this is how I wrote it in there: ""I think it was created by administrators from the nwvault initially....(?).
"".

Notice the words ""I THINK"" and also notice the ""(?)"" at the end....I think that is enough of disclaimers for something I am not 100% sure about....so it will be solved further on...I was hoping to get some answers from the community on this....
