Anybody looking for a game this afternoon?
« on: September 12, 2010, 05:29:31 am »

I've had a couple of last minute cancellations for my NWCon event this afternoon at 1 PM EST. If anybody's interested my game sign-up page on NeverwinterConnections is here.
http://www.neverwint...es/id/43572.htm

This is the NWN Original Campaign as it should have been. Who was the hero of Neverwinter? Where did the legendary figure really come from? How did this extraordinary person get an invitation to the Neverwinter Acadamy?

This is not just a redress of the original prelude. It’s a complete rewrite with more than 20 new areas and 5 new quests.

This new version of the NWN Prelude Chapter takes you all the way back to the Cooper’s Hill manor farm, a tiny hamlet just outside the gates of Neverwinter where the hero of the city got started as an adventurer. With the help of some friends, of course...

Game time can vary. Theoretically this module can be beaten in less than 30 minutes, but 3 hours is more likely. If you play like masters it's possible that it could run 10 hours. There is a secondary plot that's nearly impossible to beat.

The game will be strictly limited to 5 hours. In the unlikely event that it runs longer an invite only follow up session will be organized.

Play well, Play carefully. Resting is restricted to certain "safe" areas. Perma-death is in place, and while PCs can be raised it costs a ton of gold. If you die you'll most likely want to draw up a new character in the old PnP style.

Players Background on Cooper's Hill:
Map: http://img195.images.../1613/shill.jpg

A few hours walk from the great walled city of Neverwinter, the tiny thorpe of Cooper's Hill possesses none of that city's metropolitan character. Cooper's Hill is not a welcoming place to strangers. Fear of the plague has driven the town into near madness. Unfamiliar faces are immediately run out of town at sword point (where they are most likely robbed by bandits as soon as they are out of sight of the town).

The village is governed by a nobleman, the Squire Tantain of House Grommel. His rents are infamously high, making the hill one of the poorest villages in the Neverwinter area.

The center of the town is the Sleeping Dog Inn. The proprietor, Jahn, is one of the most respected men in Neverwinter, and the only resident of the town that owns his own land.

There is a chapel to Chauntea in the village, a blacksmith, a bakery, and a general merchant, but there is no mill or weaver making the village highly dependent on trade. Unfortunately the nearby city of Neverwinter is being ravaged by plague, and the trade routes have been all but shut down, making even basic commodities expensive and hard to find.

The priestess of Chauntea is beloved by the villagers. While she rarely leaves her cloister when she does it's to bless the fields and those who work them, and her blessings are a powerfull boon to every harvest.

The merchant, Bertha, fancies herself something of a community leader, but like most of her trade she's prone to profiteering and unpopular with the residents of the hill.

The smith is competent journeyman and little else. He mends pots and shoes horses. He doesn't make weapons or armor.

The bakery has only one real customer, the manor house and it's guard. It, like everything else on the hill, is owned by house Grommel who spares the baker the usual rent, but pays the baker and his family only a tiny stipend making him pretty much as poor as any of the farmers in town.

The game was a blast, thanks to Skunkeen, DaveO, and Raganui. Outstanding gamers. If you ever get a chance to play with any of them grab it.

We'll be playing this adventure for one or two more sessions. If anyone would like to join us the NWC signup page is here...
