Online Recommendations?
« on: September 10, 2010, 04:47:55 am »

               Hello all!

I've got my copy of NWN Diamond on the way so I thought I'd get some newbie questions out of the way while I'm waiting for it.
I've mainly bought this game for the PW play/ online content (I've got Baldur's Gate 4 in 1 boxset arriving for my single-player fix), but since I'm attending a school notorious for its requirement of on-campus work AND working off-campus, I don't have large amounts of free time in a large chunk. Are there any PW's that are friendly to that sort of thing? I'm not too familiar with D&D rulesets (though I know that playing the game makes you familiar enough to get by) as well if that matters all that much.
I'm a big teamplayer as I've had lots of experience with WoW but got rid of it because I got tired of paying a monthly fee, so I'm more than happy to tag along and work with others...basically the perfect squadmate!'Posted

Thanks for all the help and I look forward to questing soon!

I would suggest jumping over to the NwN 1 Persistent Worlds & Multiplayer section, where you'll find links and descriptions of a variety of PWs.  It should all be pretty much up to date, since all the posts are from the last month or so.

Browse around, find the type of game that suits you, and go have fun!

Good luck in your search.

Heyo. We're pretty good with that. There's undmed events, where you can login anytime and follow the trail to solving a puzzle laid out out by a dm. We're also somewhat fast with leveling, and non-restrictive, though most of our players focus on role-play.

I do suggest downloading CEP and updating to the 1.69 patch before you try any servers though. Our website has a download page with links there and to other custom content that makes the game look much newer and prettier.

Get X-Fire and add me there. I am sure I could show you around if you pop up there the same time as me. I got a server but we can also play at any other.

On my X-Fire community page there are some examples on servers also

Also, try out Neverwinter Connections which is a game matching site dedicated to getting NWN and NWN2 players together in MP games.

While not as active as in it's heyday, it still is a very good site for finding like minded players.

if you are into shorter intervals of playing and want a bit of fun, you may consider team pvp. it's intellectually interesting, the pace of gameplay can be very fast and you do not usually need to wait for teams to form up. the popular servers already have players online all the time. you do not need to roleplay, think about the story or commit to keeping up with the news. just drop in buckle up and enjoy the continual ride.

there are CTF, king of the hill and domination game types and it is all like fast paced chess. many fo the players enjoy figuring out the best builds, items and ways to kill your enemy.

try antiworld, nwknights or bastions of war.

for fairly tough PW team PVP you may also try the LOTR server in PWorlds category which has a continual long term war between Mordor and Gondor. i have heard this LOTR server is largely impossible to solo.
