Windowed Mode
« on: August 03, 2010, 05:47:40 pm »

               I want to replay this game, however it predates the wonderful windowed mode. I was wondering if anyone knew a way that I could change it so this game would have a windowed mode.

               Open up the nwn.ini file in your NWN directory using notepad. Look under [Display Options] and change the following FullScreen=0 and AllowWindowedMode=1. You may also need to adjust the Height and Width settings to obtain a window of the desired size.

               Also, once configured, you can freely swap back and forth between full screen and windowed mode by using Alt-Enter key combo.  Very handy for cutting and pasting text, or web browsing for info or what not, during slow moments in a game.

I don't see the AllowWindowedMode=1 option under Display Options in my nwn.ini file, what's up?

If you don't have the AllowWindowedMode line in your nwn.ini file you can simply add it in.

               i'm wondering, what does windowed mode do exactly, because I put it under the Display Options, yet, nothing special happens, do I need to do something else?

               Did you adjust the height and width settings? If not, the display area still defaults to your screen size, so you won't notice the window (the edges will be off-screen).

First off, find and run the file called nwconfig.exe, it will be found in the same folder as nwn.exe

Let it search for and self config the settings.

After that,  when you start NWN, there is an options button.  From that, choose "Video Options" and on that screen, right at the top, click "Resolution" and you can set it there.

Note: to play in windowed mode, you also need to edit nwn.ini and search for this:

[Display Options]
UseLargeFont=0
Width=1920
Height=1080
BitsPerPixels=32
RefreshRate=60
TexturePack=3
FullScreen=0
AllowWindowedMode=1
SafeMovie=0
Disable Movies=1

You want to ensure that the line "AllowWindowedMode" is set to a 1. (one).
