A word of advice: You should try to stay out of SHO-VA's sight though because when I tried to use your avatar I was greeted as follows:

Oliver, the new portrait looks awful, I can handle the move here and the

that...

I think it fits the emo bunny theme very well though.

Hi olivier.  I'm going for creepy.  'Posted

I want you all to know that I am going to be bringing some sanity to these normally crazy forums . . . just as soon as I find some.  My emo bunnies are helping me search, aren't you emo bunnies?  Hmm? . . . blurgle shloo?  okay.  thanks.

I think you can upload a custom avatar, although I haven't looked at how to do it yet.

I think I know the theory. I just don't know the exact step to do so.

For any forum users with custom portraits, if you check their in-game character, you will find that they have a character whose portraits photo is the custom portrait. I suspect they do it with steps similar to the following:

- Create a DA character in game and create a save file.
- Inside "Documents\\\\Bioware\\\\Dragon Age\\\\character\\\\\\\\save_1" (if it is the first save of this character) which will have four files inside.
- Replace the portrait PNG file with the custom portaits.
- Open DA, load the save of that character. Make another manual save again to trigger character files upload onto BSN.
- Wait for the character (include the custom portraits) to be uploaded onto BSN.
- The custom portrait will be availabe in the "Change Profile Photo" page.

This is pretty close, but the portrait files do not go inside each save.  they are just in your "Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\characters\\(charfirstname)"  Inside there are 4 files.
Saves Folder
(charname).jpg
(charname).xml
(charname)_portrait.png

The last file is the one you need to replace.

It has to be a png file 146x146 pixels.

As you can see I have mine done, I simply resized the mist dragon portrait.

               Well met.

Sorry I am little late, but a paladin has to pack a wee bit more than just a few spell papers and sticks of wizards and bards.

There's the long sword, there's the really long sword, there's the great big really long sword. A little shield for trips to and fro, a bigger shield for bigger trips hither and dither, and a great big tower shield for the times I have to also protect the aforetomentioned wizards and bards cowering behind me.

Then there's the chain mail shirt, one with a vee neck for tyr parties, and one with the polo neck for just hanging with Sharwyn. I could go on, but you get the picture. I needed a trunk of holding +5 for the lot, and then I had to drag it here.

I passed Fester Pot on the way, he was in with the dresser having his beard dyed. Wait 'til you see it. Looks like a long range chromatic spell went off short range.

Anyway, finally made it here just after sunset. Well met everyone. Is there a tavern we can all go to, feeling a mite thirsty?

Blessings.

I wish I had it as easy as a paladin!! Aside from the magical accoutrement, I had to pack weapons, armor (well, just one suit of leather), costumes, instruments (do you know how awkward a harp is to carry?!?), books, and.....oh, I suppose you get the idea. '<img'>

Anyway, welcome aboard! By the way, here's a pint to whet your whistle. Ugh, that reminds me -- I forgot to pack my whistle! '<img'>

Nothing creepier than a Lost Spirit.

I wasn't even around all that much on the old forums, yet some of you seem familiar... Maybe I can make some friends that aren't ME fanatics (like myself. Watch out on the ME forums... especially the character fan pages.)

Welcome to the new forums... enjoy your punishment stay.

Well met.

Bards are always so forgetful, a real feat for them to remember their lyrics I guess. Thanks for the welcome and also the pint. I guess we are the only fully dressed ones around here. New forum, new dress code. Ah well.

Blessings.

Also, you don't need DA for custom
portraits, just use the DA Character Creator that Bioware released
before the game came out and follow Starlight's suggestion.

Starlight wrote...

The following is the tutorial which use DA Character Creator to upload custom avatar which the Character Creator is a free download. For Linux user, there is an entry in appDB inside wine's site which tell you how to execute the Character Creator through wine under Linux.

How to upload a custom avatar without Dragon Age PC

Thank you very much, Fester Pot and Starlight!  I remember reading something about the DA Character Creator a while back, but having no interest in it or the game that followed, the thought strayed from my mind...
This is what I've always cherished about the NwN community, both on the forums and the Vault - someone is always willing to lend a helping post!  I've never "met" a friendlier group of folks anywhere!

Thanks again!

I've been reading the new forums and been trying to keep up with Both NWN and NWN2 these days.  I read this set of posts a bit back and have to shout out a HUGE THANKS to those of you responsible for linking this method.
I also posted a link and thread in the NWN2 forums, providing proper credit all the way around.  This one thing alone makes these forums that much easier to take.

I have also been reading the other general suggestions (from both NWN and NWN2) and as an NWN2 moderator, have pitched what I feel are basic necessity feature changes.  So again, thanks for all the ideas and constructive comments.  I've already pitched the basics along with pointing out that even the DA:O wiki about the things that have been suggested are not new ideas, nor limited to just these new forums.

Any NWN moderators jumping into the fray on the Moderator forums would be most welcome.

Thanks again, everybody!

best regards,
dunniteowl
