Error in nwserverlog1.txt Running Internet Server
« on: September 11, 2012, 02:44:45 am »

I'm trying to get a server showing on the internet and have run into a hard wall.

As recommended I set up a static IP on the server (running XP) and set up port forwarding for a ZyXEL PK5000Z router for ports 5120-5129, 6667, 80, 27900, 28900, 29900, 29901, 13139 and 6500 for the UDP protocol and static ip. After checking the nwserverlog1.txt it stated that there were connecting errors on ports 14634 and 14827 so I added them to the list. That took care of the error for 14634.

Now I get the following text in the nwserverlog1.txt file

[Mon Sep 10 19:31:20] Loading Module:
[Mon Sep 10 19:31:20]---- Server Options ----
Max Players: 12
Char Levels: (1-20)
Player Password:  YES
DM Login Enabled: NO
Server Admin Login Enabled: YES
Post Game To Internet: YES
Game Type: PW Action
Difficulty: 2
PVP Setting: FULL
Vault: SERVEROnly
One Party: NO
Enforce Legal Characters: NO
Item Level Restrictions: NO
Player pausing: DISABLED
Auto Reload When Empty: On
Auto Save: Enabled
Saving Characters in Saved Game
----End Server Options ----

GameSpy Server Error: Unable to query the server. You may need to open port 14827 for incoming traffic.

GameSpy Server Error: Unable to query the server. You may need to open port 14827 for incoming traffic.

GameSpy Server Error: Unable to query the server. You may need to open port 14827 for incoming traffic.

And on and on.

What am I missing? This was so much easier the first time around!
Just noticed that somehow the DM and Server admin settings are reversed from the settings. Hmmm.

I have no Idea why it is trying to open a port on 14827    double check in your nwplayer.ini and make shure you have the correct Game Port setting under the server options.  It ishould be 5121

Game Port=5121

Also check to make sure that you do not have port triggring set up to send that port off to that wierd port address.

I just checked on backed up logs and they recommended ports 28661, 29135, 12470, 28596, 13883 and 15320. I opened them but no change on the connection error.

Are you running the stand alone server/   If you are at the top it should show the port the server is using.   ex.   192.168.1.101:5121     The IP address shown is going to be a local address and not the external one that players will use to direct connect.   the Port however is the port the server is using.   It needs to be in the 5120-5129 range.

               I am running the standalone.

I looked at that and found one error. It was 192.168.0.7:5121. The problem is that I had set up the forwarding for 192.168.0.17. So I changed the static IP of the server to 17 from 7 and restarted  (easier than redoing the forwarding).

Now it is saying

GameSpy Server Error: Unable to query the server. You may need to open port 20594 for incoming traffic.

I forwarded
20594 but to no advantage. Still getting the error.

So right IP and right game port and forwarded everything but the kitchen sink.

Thanks for the suggestions Light. Anything will help.

Dont even worry about trying to open the ports  outside of the 5120-5129 range.   Game spy will not pick up your server running outside of that range.

Are you sure that your IP is not 192.168.1.7

Here is the question what is the Ip Address of your router?

is it 192.168.0.1   or 192.168.1.1    ??

               192.168.0.1 and ipconfig shows 192.168.0.17.

Also note that once you get everything woeking right.  there is a good chance that You will not be able to see your server on Gamespy from your local network.  computers connecting to gamespy from outside of your local network will be able to see it however.

I forgot about not seeing the game from inside.

Would you mind checking for PW Action for "Local Dales Test Server"

What about the "GameSpy Server Error: Unable to query the server. You may need to open port 20594 for incoming traffic." errors.

               Nope it is not there.

The "You may need to open port 20594 for incoming traffic" is reporting the port the server is running on. it should be the same number as shown at the top of the standalone server.

Try running the server from a short cut. I'm thinking that either something is messed up in the .ini or your ISP is changing your port.

Create a shortcut for the server.

Right click it and select propertys.

On the shortcut Tab.

'Posted

in the Target field enter something to the tune of.

C:\\NeverwinterNights\\NWN\\nwserver.exe -publicserver 1 -servername "NameForYourServer " -module "NameOfModule" -difficulty 2 -port 5121 -cpu 3 -playerpassword "" -dmpassword Dmpass

Note:  I have mine running on the 4 core.(-cpu 3)   You may want to change that number to run on the core you want.

select ok to close the shortcut,  Rename it to what ever you want, Move it to the desktop for easy access and double click it to start the server.

I do call it from a short cut. The command line is
C:\\NeverwinterNights\\NWN\\nwserver.exe -module "Dalelands" -playerpassword PLAYER -dmpassword DM -servername "Local Dales Test Server" -servervault 1

The nwnplayer.ini is:

Heartbeat Logging=0
Visible Cloaks=1

[Chat Colors]

[Control Options]

[Profile]

[Server Options]

Is it possible that the antivirus or something on that line could be the issue?

               Add

-publicserver 1 -port 5121 -cpu 0

To your command line.

If that does not do it. I am not sure. My final guess would be that your ISP is messing with you incomming/outgoing port.

EDIT:  From the way your  .ini posted the first time, you may want to  open it with a HexEditor and make sure that there no tabs in it and that all lines end with a 0A 0D

Added that and error still there. I'm going to call it for a night. I'm going to have a talk with my provider tomorrow. May switch to another server to see if that has anything to do with it.

Big thanks for your help!
