Help Running NWN Deluxe on Vista 64-bit
« on: July 08, 2012, 08:27:07 am »

                Hi folks,

I'm trying to install and run the NWN Deluxe Edition from Sold Out Software on Vista 64-bit and not having much luck. It seems to install ok, but then when I try and play, the screen goes black for a couple of seconds and then I get a 'Neverwinter Nights has stopped working' error. Here's my system:

OS: Windows Vista 64-bit
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 3850
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 Dual Core 4400+ (2.19GHz)
RAM: 2GB

I've updated drivers, I'm running as admin and in XP compatibility mode, I'm trying to launch the game using nwnmain.exe, I've tried fiddling around with .ini files, tbh I think I've tried everything! I'm just hoping that someone has an idea for a certain combination of things I've not tried, or something new!

Please please please can anybody help? I really wanna play NWN!!

Try run in windowed mode, or tick "disable visual themes" or something like that. It's in the compatability thingy. '^_^'

What's the version of your Catalyst video driver?
When I updated to version 2.4 there was no way to run NWN again. No matter what settings you change and what compatibility modes you choose, NWN doesn't work with version 2.4.
I deinstalled V2.4 and got 2.1 instead. NWN will run with that version.
